66 slammed hearse
As many of you know, I just scored a 66 burban. I am thinking of slamming it and paneling the very back side window openings and adding landeu bars and casket racks. Does anyone know if these were ever converted to hearses? any pictures. Also thinking of cutting the firewall, cowl, A pillars out and changing to a 60-63 style windshield. am I getting to wild? Kinda looking forward to creeping out the neighbors with a hearse in the driveway.

Sounds cool. I don't know why but as a kid I always dreamed of building a hotrod hearse!

Re: 66 slammed hearse
I remember seeing a 63 GMC 4X4 panel hearse, on a panel truck site one time. It was in Colorado and unrestored. It was black and had the landau bars. I wish I could remember where I saw it. It was pretty cool.

Re: 66 slammed hearse
the burban is less the engine and windshield. I havent really got a chance to look over it yet as it is buried in a snow bank. all the side glass is in it, and the body is fairly strait but has rusty rockers and wheel wells. I will try to get some pictures posted tonight. pm me if you are serious.

Re: 66 slammed hearse
I could just see it at a show dumping a coffin out the back doors with the rear bumper on the ground and the front up in the air.

Re: 66 slammed hearse
Oh I remember soba, Its killing me with all the new parts to not work on it. I just sat on the inner fender and had to put this in. with my wife handing me parts and throwing a fit the whole time. Its not in for good, just mocked up. I will have to drill some holes and a few other things, but I need to get healed up before I tackle that. That panel is sick! more pics please.

Slow and easy with the fresh knee work... Just let her know that you'll be sitting on a shop stool or laying on a creeper and that kneeling won't be till later in the week.... |

Re: 66 slammed hearse
OH run your power brake hose right to the port below the Carb on that intake. You might want to consider Kroil ing the port plug. Cause that cast Iron has a tendancy to break. Then if you have to use a HOT wrench to get it loose. Should you manage to crack that I have a 235 intake I believe that it will work on 235/216 not sure what yours has in it. But thought I would offer a suggestion....
