Re: Tailgate Bands Pics/options/diy

Sounds like we know where we need to start going for 73-87 parts. All those bands, and then the consoles!

Re: Tailgate Bands Pics/options/diy

OK guys. I have been buying these type consoles for years. Back when you could find them pretty regularly. Almost all the console boxes were removed from Blazers. You have to remember the 4X4's have always been popular here in Colorado. Consequently, it is not unusual to see these era Blazers in the bone yards. Whenever I see one with the earlyl style console, I grab it. What I find is really rare is the correct bucket seats and tracks for these era pickup trucks.

Yeah after seeing more and more of the bucket seat setup in the trucks the more and more I'm liking them. Bruthaman did a set in his truck that he just finished, and they look really good.

oh, mine's not in the truck yet...lol...but I do have it...and the buckets to go in it...I have to wait until after the end of March when my wife has our second baby and there's no way I can take the whole family in the truck before I can put the console and buckets in...for now it's gotta stay functional as a family vehicle if needed...

I have to agree with the hitting the junkyard, mine isn't quite the same but it only cost me $5 and if I wanted the whole tailgate it would have only cost me $20, they had one like you have displayed there also but the emblem was half gone or I would have gotten it instead

Re: Tailgate Bands Pics/options/diy

Someone bought it.

Isn't it weird how I saw that band, and I'm like, "Naw, that's too expensive," and then the moment I realize it has been purchased by someone else, I'm like "DAMN IT!!!"

After seeing some pics of the Brazilian made C10 trucks that came with a really great looking logo I want to copy it on a tail gate band.

Re: Tailgate Bands Pics/options/diy

Here is mine. It looks like it is oxidizing in a couple of places. (some look like shiny chrome instead of the brushed finish). Is there any chemical I could wipe on it or something that would stop that?

Thanks

Re: Tailgate Bands Pics/options/diy

ok people were talking about machining one out of aluminum why not take that Brazilian made C10 design and make it on a piece of aluminum the size of the blazer band?

That's what I said.

I just don't have access to the kind of equipment needed to do it quickly. Manually machining that out would suck, especially if it took a few prototypes to get it right.
