I like the way you dealt with this problem and now it's shapping up

Re: 68 C10 SWB "Nasty"

I finally finished the topper I was working on for a buddy, and can get back to working on this.*

I sanded and prepped the new hood, and I ground down the hubs so the wheels would fit. I had to add a 5/16" wheel spacer, along with 3/8" longer wheel studs. Now the wheels fit on the front*

I have a set of 1 1/4" spacers for the rear, so that's today's project.*

Also the new pads I ordered from LMC do not fit. I'm going to contact Southern KY Classics, where I got the disk brake conversion from, and find out what's going on. I also have a leaking caliper on the passenger side.*

It looks great. I'd leave it as is. But that's just my opinion.

Re: 68 C10 SWB "Nasty"

The biggest deal is they rub in the front, and the computer needs to be programmed to the new rear tire size. If the wheels were mine, I'd clearance the inner fender, and reprogram the PCM, but since they are dads, they are coming off tonight.*

Re: 68 C10 SWB "Nasty"

Worked on the cowl hood a little*

Primed. The gun kept acting up, so it looked horrible. Oh well.*

After some wet sanding, the black base was laid down.*

Now to let it bake in the heat, and then wetsanding again to start the faux-tina.*

Goal is to look similar to this

Re: 68 C10 SWB "Nasty"

I was drawn to your truck because of the old red rims, and I think they look alot better on your truck with the base black paint job.

Thanks man. I completely agree.

I'm going to see how I like the patina look, if I dont, I only used about 10 bucks worth of paint.

Re: 68 C10 SWB "Nasty"

You know those people that can't just leave well enough alone? I'm one of those people... Kristina says I have ADD, I tell her she is delusional, but who knows...

Yesterday I got the itch to make this thing different... I succeeded alright...

As you can see, I sanded the **** out of it. The cab is done with the exception of the hood, which will likely never be on this truck. I am going to swap clips to the 68 style now that I ruined a perfectly good truck. Oh well, just paint I guess

Well today I went back and brought the page up to date, since the mods and admins made it where we can edit our own posts. Big thumbs up for that! Thanks guys and gals!

Hey buddy! Thank you for stopping by.
Also, Semper Fi, fellow Marine. Great thread. Keep us posted! Thanks for the love on my truck. I am definitely excited...and you say the stock LS1 is enough, huh? Sweet. I assume you have the automatic trans?

Re: 68 C10 SWB "Nasty"

Thanks!

I do have some what of an update... I bought some new paint, and a 68 cab that came with the dog house. Once I get the Explorer out of my way, I will be able to start disassembling the front end, and get it looking more like a 68.

The paint i chose in my opinion is the most gorgeous color on the planet. Its called Planet Color Copper Pearl - PCFP13

http://www.planetcolor.com/color/det...tNumber=PCFP13

I also got my new throttle cable in and routed, but that was a while ago. I haven't fixed the brakes, which is why i haven't been driving it. One of the steel hard lines needs to be replaced, and I just haven't had the time, and i don't like working in the cold.

Josh - love your truck and the LS1!! You got any pics of your catch can and coolant overflow tank? Had an '01 SS for years before deciding to sell it when I got divorced I miss that motor and would like to eventually put one in the truck. I never got the chance to put a catch can on the Camaro so didn't look into it - where did you get yours??

Thanks man! I had an 01 SS as well. 6 speed, vert, triple black. Was a great car. I can't get in and out of lowered cars anymore due to my knees, so she went to a new home.

I just have the coolant overflow tank now. I haven't figured out how I'm going to do the catch can yet, as I don't really want it just sitting there bolted to the inner fender well. I can get you some pics if you like.

1. Thank you for serving out country.
2. You've got an awesome father.

For pops to install the engine for you while you were away is awesome.
Your on your way to having a bad ass ride. Great choice in rims. I was actually going to use those. Your heads on your engine are good ones too! 241's are almost the same as 243's.

How does the truck feel with the 4l60e and motor in it?

You're very welcome. My dad is my hero. One of the greatest men I have ever had the pleasure of meeting, and it just makes it that much better I get to meet him everyday.

Thanks for the compliments

As for the rims, I don't have any except for the red steelies. The Boss 338's are dad's. They are going on his rat rod project. We used my truck to fix the front brakes and fit everything. Steelies are back on Nasty.

It feels pretty good I highly recommend Howell for any computer reprogam. They are crazy expensive, but trust me when i say its worth it.

I love the look of your truck... that wheel change sure changes the personality of it but looks really good with both sets.

Thanks Jimmy. With spring coming up quickly, I'm hoping to start the front end swap asap. I am also going to run all new brake lines. The truck has an issue with a brake line currently, so that has to be fixed ASAP.
