Re: Hubcaps

Check out these nos GMC caps. http://www.ebay.com/itm/1964-1965-GM...e654f4&vxp=mtr They are very nice, but be careful. These are not 3/4 ton 8 lug hubcaps like seller claims. They are not for 1/2 ton 6 lug with regular bump type wheels either.THey are for clip style 1/2 ton 6 lug rims, but agian watch out, must be a 6 lug clip rim with sharp drop off around lug center like the green rim in my post # 67, won't fit 40's to mid 50's wheels 6 lug rims with clips with the broad wide shallow drop off around lug center.

Re: Hubcaps

Good example of clip vs/non clip style cap. The two lower caps are for the clip style rim.

Re: Hubcaps

Here are a clip style steelie, a drum brake steelie (has 3 bumps on the front for hubcap), and a disc brake steelie (has 4 nubs on the front for hubcap)(also has different slots than the drum steelie). Pic is for reference to show that you can use a gen 2 c-10 rim w/OEM 61-66 caps. The disc steelie is perfect for the disc brake conversion and you want to retain factory hardware.

Re: Hubcaps

1963c-10, so your saying that you can use a 60's nub style hubcap on a late 60's/70's 4 nub 6 lug rim? Because i am looking to upgrade to disc in the future. But i want to use my 66 stock hubcaps.

Re: Hubcaps

Rideblue00....sorry took so long to respond. Just say the question. Yes, you can use the OEM dogdish caps on the newer 4 nub rims. The 4 nub rims are made for disk brakes.

Re: Hubcaps

The reason the 3 nub hubcaps work on the 4 nub wheels is because on the 3 bump wheels, all 3 bumps are the same depth. On 4 bump wheels, 2 of the bumps are standard size (like on 3 bump wheels), and the other 2 are very shallow by comparison. So overall the hubcaps only need to stretch a small bit more to mount on a 4 bump wheel.

The difference in bump sizes can even be seen in the small disc brake wheel photo above. The north and south bumps are clearly visible. The east and west bumps are much smaller.

Re: Hubcaps

Here are some close-ups of the 4 bump rim. I rotated the pics to show the 2 larger bumps in a north to south reference and the two maller bumps in the east to west direction. Took a few different pics due to lighting.

I just bought 4 for my 1964 Chevy from a place in Eugene, OR. The guy told me they were off a 66/67 Chevelle. I think they look just right on a 64/66 pickup.

Re: Hubcaps

I have a pair of NOS 64-66 hubcaps chevy hubcaps in great condition. I don't need them because I have the wrong style wheels for them and have decided to go another direction. I just put them on ebay.

Probably off a 64-65 GMC 4X4, Chevy did not offer them during these years. Here is '62 GMC with rare chrome 4X4 caps.

WoW,I loved this thread, got to see and give me Ideas,PERRO13 what wheel and tire combo are you running on that Burb,Me Likes the looks.I too am wanting to go with a 16" wheel with caps,I have some 16"wheels 6-lug from my ole fleetline but not sure if they will clear the disk brakes on my 64 4x4 with early 70's running gear.as of right now it has a 3/4 ton runnning gear with 456's gears I'm wanting to go with 1/2 ton running gear with better gears for Hi-way.

Re: Hubcaps

Does anyone know if Chevy made 62 chrome caps with the fronts punched out for 4X4?
I have always been told no but to see the 62 GMc gives me hope for my Chevy suburban.
Any insight would be great or if anyone can help me get a hand on some.
Thanks
