That particular cross member will most likely be moved when I reconfigure/build the drive shafts. I've heard people use the term fishplate several times unless I mistaken fishplating is a reenforcement plate wield onto the frame with holes in it and essentially boxing the frame. What I am doing is putting a backing plate directly behind my joint approximately 32" long and about 1/4" thick. I hope that answers your question. I believe its important to make the frame a little bit more rigid in this part of the frame to help prevent the cab from twisting. I will say however I can't imagine my 2nd gen cabs twisting at all because of the way I build them. They are very rigid.

Drug home a 71' GMC Burb definitely not restorable but it had some good parts for another crew cab. Bought a really sweet 72' suburban 2wd 3/4 ton with no rust probably going to make it a driver but will have to be 4wd. It has a very nice tailgate and deck lid.

I also just made an offer for another surburban that is literally a barn find. Hugger orange 1/2 ton, no rust, tailgate and deck lid are perfect, probably could drive it home. I am constantly on a hunt for the parts that I need to build my crew cabs such as 3rd door hinges, which is necessary for me to duplicate the 3rd door for the 4th door.

Does anybody have a source for the material used on a suburban headliner? I called my local upholestry place and got the impression that he was not interested in looking for it.

I think this is the closest you are going to get, its "perforated vinyl". Your 67-72 burb headliners are a Masonite like material. I think you'll have to make a backing out of some type of flexible board then glue this to it. This is about what is in my 78, I need to do mine too.

72' Diesel Crew Collaboration - Decided to team up with a friend of mine to build a hugger orange and white 4 door crew cab one ton twelve valve truck that will be shown at SEMA and then auctioned at Barrett Jackson in Scottsdale.

I did not build my truck necessarily to be a show truck but a daily driver and my tow vehicle however this collaboration will be in every way an absolute show truck and power house tow vehicle. If you can imagine my truck hugger orange and white and powered by a 12 valve Cummins that is what it will look like.

Thought I would show you some pictures of the truck with a 12 valve Cummins built and driven by the guy I will be partnering with.
