Re: Diesel Questions

I myself am going with a g56 six speed, but you have the option of nv4500, zf5, zf6, whichin my opinion is one of the best (available in ford and gm versions), nv5600, expensive to rebuild but very strong, and the g56, good trans, you just have to find a clutch, talk with southbend clutch about what can be done (nv4500 wont require a special lutch since it was oem in second gen 12 valves) but the others will need a mixture of parts.

Re: Diesel Questions

Yea, there are alot of auto choices as well, the allison being the best choice, but in my experience, andmany other people i know and even from the manufacturers, manuals are stronger, more HD, fuel efficient, and higher GVW, plus they last way longer, but its your project so do whatever you want, but i myself will take a stick over an auto any day.

Re: Diesel Questions

Yeah I know manuals are way stronger but a auto may be my imediate choice for money and finishing the project reasons. But in the end there will be a manual in it.

Re: Diesel Questions

Look around http://www.destroked.com/ they have adapters and flex plates to use any auto trans you want.Don't use a factory adapter from a 4bt bread truck,That adapter puts the engine at a odd angle. For motor mounts/crossmember http://www.cumminsdieselrepowers.com/ and http://www.tndieselpower.com/site/ use to have a no lift crossmember his site is kinda jacked call him if you can.

Re: Diesel Questions

So I'm finding it hard to find a decently priced crew cab single rear wheel truck around me.
