Re: Silverado restoration in Finland

I just read through this whole build. You are definitely doing some great work! I have sent some parts for these trucks over to Finland and Sweden over the years. I am always surprised that these trucks are over there. Keep up the good work!

Thank you 1774btcrew! Do you have any parts in our truck? If you have parts for sale then I would be interested in it. We try to do as well as we know that you do not have to end up harming.

Re: Silverado restoration in Finland

I just got caught up on your build. You guys are doing a great job. Very thorough. You asked me if I knew a good source for the cab bolts. I'm sorry I don't. When I need bolts I try to match them from a local supplier with standard high-strength bolts. I would think that Brothers, LMC, goodmark, or people like that would have those cab bolts. You could also post in this forum for general questions. Also you asked for pictures that show the engine compartment and underneath the truck, the chassis. The best way to find pictures would be to search the internet. But I think that the people on here could answer any question you had about what colors should be used for engine area and chassis. There's a guy on here named Joe Yezzi (I can't remember his screen name) who does very detailed work that might give you some ideas.

Thank you very much LT7A!
The cab bolts was now done, but thanks for your information. I have tried to search the internet but I have not quite found the original photos from the truck. I have to try to ask again about this site.
This guy who name is Joe Yezzi, is he here some car project what he has built, or how can I get him information about this truck? I would like the car to look like it would come from the factory ...

Re: Silverado restoration in Finland

We bought a spare chassis. There was almost a new tank what we needed. Something else small things we also needed.

Here are some assembly line photos:

Factory brochures can also be a good reference (although sometimes components are painted for the photo when they were not in production:

I also have quite a few "before" pictures in my build/intro thread. They might be gone, now, because of the photobucket policy change. I used a lot more "attachments" from my computer drive and fewer and fewer photobucket pictures the father I went.

Wau!! Thank you so much Keith!

These were amazing pictures and information! I have many hours browsed all these pictures and information. I tried to open your build thread pictures but I did´t get open them. It really annoys me a LOT! Can you put a few pictures to me??
I found one of the original video from youtube but it does not appear to be a chassis of course. But thank you again for Keith and nice to note that here are such helpful people!

These pictures help a lot! Can you still put an image of this bed area? What kind of material is your truck seat? Can you take pictures of it too?

Thank you very much Zachary17!

It seems like that the rear bed is wholly painted with primary color? Your truck seat look so awsome. We want the same upholstery in our truck.

One thing I should mention is that, in the assembly plant, the secondary color was sprayed first (directly over the primer).

The pattern was then masked/taped off and the primary color sprayed over the top of that. Removing the masking paper and tape then revealed the two tone.

Thank you Keith! I tell these greetings to our painters. We have a little bit problem with almond WA7473, because our paint shop does´t know this color...even though in the spring they said it was found. Any way, I hope they find that recipe from somewhere.

The cabin is now ready for the painters. Maybe next week we can get it painted. Bed is still work to be done before it can be painted.

Re: Silverado restoration in Finland

I picked up the rubbish from my own hydraulic press. It cost only 30€ (about 30$) because I had to bought new 12 ton hydraulic jack. We tried to change the upper control arms bushes and it work very well.

Today we took all other parts to the painters, except bed. Next, we have to do the bed ready for the painter. (And all small things)

Pic 1. With these colors, the truck is going to be painted.
Pic 2. New exhaust pipe arrived
Pic 3. The bed was turned around
Pic 4. Some previous owner had welded a weird spot that had to be repaired.
Pic 5. A few extra holes must be welded. Bigger dummies were also straightened.

Good progress Illka. I makes me mad when the previous owner does a bad job fixing something (like that patch). But it is a great feeling to fix it right.
