The second set of bars showed up ans they were the same ones he received the first time. He shipped all four back already called left messages and is waiting for a call back since yesterday. I was at Raul's house Saturday..

My suggestion would be to take picture of how you measured the location of the notch. I hope this helps!

The closer I look at this picture it appears that you might have the front bracket located too far forward. It's a possibility that the hole we referenced in our instructions is in a different location on your chassis. I will know for sure when the bars you sent back show up, and I can confirm the length. We can also get another measurement on that front four link bracket to compare its placement.

I went and took a couple other measurements for reference on that front bracket. My thinking is that if the front bracket is NOT in the right location we can just make a set of bars that will fit so that there will not be the need to relocate/redrill a bunch more holes.

We made the front four link bracket so it fit the leaf spring chassis, they actually bolt into place of the front spring hanger on the leaf spring frames. If we measure back 6" from the rearmost rivet on the front bed mounting bracket (see pics for reference) it will put us in the correct fore-aft location for the front upper mounting bolt on the four-link bracket. Take a look at these pics and we can determine if it's too far forward or in the intended location.

Again, I apologize for the inconvenience on the parts.

ok here we go , in the instructions it says for the step side to measure 25.25from behind the hole of the second bed mount to the center of the wheel line so here the pix

now as for the four link bracket i went ahead and retaiped andstarted from the begining again i i did as the instructions said

now if you take the 3 1/2 inches fron the center of axle to about half thred on the joint as i show in the picture that would mean that i need a 22.5 bar like it was marked on the bars i got exept the actually measure 20 in , now i dont think i need to move the brackets 2 1/2 inches forward if i do so be it let me know Nate , thanks ,

Thanks Raul. As soon as the bars show up I will see where we went wrong. From your pics and measurements shown, it doesn't appear to be off.

Raull,... have you had your bed back on yet?
I would throw it back on and put a wheel in the center of the stepside fender's wheel opening.

To me,... this is the only way you will correctly position the rearend and the notch.
Then you can adjust/verify the bar length or front mount accordingly.
(ask me how I know. Ha)

Keith is the original reason that we now have different dimensions and bar lengths for the rear components on a step side bed vs. a fleet.

He purchased a chassis for his stepper that had a Dropmember Rear installed that was fit up under a fleetside bed. Up to that point we had never heard feedback from anybody running a step side bed, and we had never installed one here at the shop under a stepper either. Needless to say we were all confused and surpsised by the fact that the rear wheel centerline was 1.5" rearward in the stepper fenders.

Anyways.... on our fleetside bars the center to center of the bushings is 23.5 inches. So we build the step side bars 1.25" shorter... making them 22.25. We also adjust the for-aft reference for notch placement.

Here's what I found when I measured your bars this morning (and I believe that some of the confusion was in our communication regarding what the 22.25" measurement should have been). They measure right at 22.25" center to center on the bushings.

Another observation is the height of your notch. It is hard to tell, but it appears that you have not trimmed it down any to set the height? The weld in notches come oversized, so depending on your tire height they might need to be trimmed down quite a bit. The taller the notch, the more the axle will swing forward until it bottoms out.

Also, it appears that the reference line you used to place the front bracket is not perpindicular to the ground. This could place the mount a little too farther forward as well. Might be a combination of a couple things compounding the issue.

Also, PLEASE do not take my communications as anything other trying to help you get it figured out and set up as it is intended. All I want is to make sure the kit goes in and functions as intended. I am definitely not trying to fixate any blame anywhere. Just want to help get it where it needs to be.

Just confirm or deny the 6" measurement for us and also the notch height and will get it all figured out.

Raull,... here is my before and after pics.
First one is standard PB "fleetside" 4-link chassis with the stepside bed.
Second pic is after I moved the notch forward and had Nate shortened the link bars.

My notch is too huge for a stepside bed.
These second pic tires are 29" tall and I can't lay out before the stepside fenders are setting on the tires.

This is also ride height!

Let's do this...

Get the bed in place.

Confirm the wheel centerline measurements and make sure the notch is centered.

Make sure the notch depth is correct so that when the axle is bottomed out it sits right where you want it (this is very important due to the way the bag is set up. If you have excess room in the notch when deflated, the bag will not get the total amount of travel).

Bottom the axle out in the notch then get me a center to center measurement on the bushing centers for the four-link bars. I will make you a set to that dimension. That way you don't have to re-locate the front mounting bracket. This will eliminate any additional holes in the frame.

I like that this is happening! Hopefully the stepsides with trailing arms will get fixed up next! I know the wheel offset in the stepside opening problem is not caused by any PB product, I am just hopeful Nate and his crew can give us a solution.

We have it covered in the extreme version that lays frame.... Just don't have a stepside specific stage 2 kit yet.
