Man, I am so sorry to hear that!!!

I hope the shop steps up and does what's right. If not I would let them know I would be posting on this forum, craigslist, and everywhere else you can think of their info so no one else ever goes there....

And...if you decide to not see it through...before you tear it down have you consider contacting the guy who made you the nice offer on it and see if they'd be interested still?

I have already looked to make sure his number is in my phone, it is. I just don't see getting what I have in it with everything as is. I may have to put it on blocks and step away for awhile. Don't think Ronnie would be too happy about it being in the way for a long time. On the flip side it may not take too long and I'll be back at this point in a month or two. I'm prayin.

Sorry to hear David! The shop should step up to the plate. Any reputable shop would have hot tanked, and magnafluxed the block before starting the build.

Keep me in the loop bro.

Breaks my heart dude. Don't give in, I'm sure you could drop in another engine, maybe a 350? But hopefully the shop will do the right thing!!!!

OH NO!!!!

Is it anything that could be welded up? I know there are plenty of reputable engine shops that could do that type of work.

Do you know what year your 327 block is? The 68 & 69 vintage ones are the same as a 350 block all the way up to 1985.

Some even have the same casting number used for both engines.

I have heard from other people that this is an area that can be welded easily since there is no pressure in this area. But no new news from the builder. I called twice Saturday with no answer, but they are not open to the public on weekends so it's a hit or miss. I am calling him today but we have bad weather so I don't see anything happenin.

Re: 1967 C10 Custom Big Window

If things don't work out, I bet drilling out the end of the crack to prevent spreading (always recommended) and a braze job and you'd be good to go! Wonder where the end of the crack is under the timing cover and how the plug would work short of pigg puddy or similar...

Wish I had more knowledge on the plug he talked about. Can't even take anything off of the engine till he gets the chance to look at it. Stalemate. I agree with ya, drill it, weld it, drive it.

Thanks for the support guys!! Alright, here's the latest. I went by the shop this morning and Chris, the owner, was there. I talked with him for a minute then told him the bad news. After the shock of what I told him had dissapeared from his face he said that he would do whatever it took to make it right without hesitation. He first suggested a plug and said if that would not fix it, then he would find another old 327 block. I was relieved big time!!! The block is a 1966 Vette/Camaro block which has no tube in the front of the block where later 67 and up blocks do. He said that they do magnaflux every block but sometimes they have pourous iron and it will not be detected. The location of the crack surprised him, he had never seen one crack in this area. The plug he refered to is supposed to be a permanent fix that is very reliable, and can be installed without pulling the engine. He said that he would meet me at the shop in the morning to look at my truck, all is going well so far! Keep your fingers crossed for me!!!!!!
