Nice job on the bed wood. Oh and Coulter cool touch with the early VW deck lid hanging on the wall.

if it were a convertible "W" decklid I would be impressed. I have a volmac folding shifter for the early vw's. I sold most all my stuff last year except for the 1000 piece toy collection.

Re: Post your Bed Wood/Metal - Customized/Modified or Stock

My temporary bed. I used regular white wood boards from the local lumber supply yard, three 1x12 and two 1x8. Two of my original bed strips were not reusable, so the five boards worked out well, and only took ripping two of the 1x12's to line up with the original strip mounting holes. Primed everything with Kilz and rattle can flat black. I just needed something inexpensive and functional until I get the funds to one day do it right.

I'm thinking about LineX'ing my bed, as I'll use it for renovation stuff. Anyone done this? What would be the best material to use underneath? Sealed exterior-grade plywood?

plain old plywood for now. It won't see the outdoors and is only tempory. When I get the bed done I am probably going to use African Mahogony.

TREX fascia board, exact thickness of factory boards, cut myself to GMC Paul's dimensions. Wanted something that would be good outside with zero maintenance.

this is made from old aluminum slats from a walking floor trailer that has been out of business since the 90's. they are all bolted down from underneath and so is the bed. no exposed bolts at all

That's a nice looking flatbed

I like the aluminum deck. It looks like you have some popup tiedowns?
