Re: 67-72 Suburban OE seats
Woody I just got the spare tank. Yes it was for the shorter 2nd row. At least mine was. Great member gave it to me. Here’s pics of bracket. I’m not sure if tank required diff seat legs or was just underneath

Re: 67-72 Suburban OE seats
Yes I just pulled the second row tank out!! The second row seat matches up to the bolt pattern on the fuel tank.

The seat does not sit off to the drivers side. It sits in the middle over the tank. Just take off the front tubular brackets and the tank bolts right up to the seat. |

Re: 67-72 Suburban OE seats
Let me do better pics. I’m not sure I have an easily accessible seat right now but the killer is cutting a hole for the gas fill

Re: 67-72 Suburban OE seats
The picture of the huge gas tank under the seat and the seat above it with the ashtrays on the arm rests makes me laugh. Probably was never a problem, just seems funny the engineers thought, where can we put more gas?

Re: 67-72 Suburban OE seats
Do some 3/4 2nd row seats only have two rear brackets while some have four?

Re: 67-72 Suburban OE seats
Has anybody bought an original style 72 Cheyenne scroll interior for a Suburban lately?
My son in law wants and interior for Christmas.

Re: 67-72 Suburban OE seats
Blazers/Jimmies received a rear seat that had two rear mounting brackets in the 72 model year whereas earlier examples made use of four brackets. For the 72 examples with the two bracket style, the center belt attachments are directly to the floor pan with angled "gooseneck" rubber boots to cover the hardware.
I speculate the Suburban seats received a similar design change for 72 wherein the center two brackets were eliminated but I've not researched that.

Re: 67-72 Suburban OE seats
Hey guys
My second row seat is not matching up to the holes that are in the support cross member. At one point the seat bolted up to an axillary gas tanks. Centered in the cab. Now I want to bolt the seat to the left side (offset so kids can get in the 3rd row) There are two sets of hole in the cross member. Straight stamp holes and holes with a weld nut. Welded nut holes put the seat center of the cab. How do I get my seat off set. |

Uh

Was your Burban a three row truck from the factory? It should be indicated on the SPID. The welded nuts on the crossmember reflect what seat layout the truck was ordered with. As far as I know GM didn't install crossmembers with weld nuts for both seat configurations. Does your 3rd row seat have the factory style crossmember? I believe the under seat aux tank was a dealer installed item only. So there would be variations in how they were installed. That being said I don't believe anyone has ever documented how those tanks were installed.

Re: 67-72 Suburban OE seats
So both my rear seats are 50” seats. I looked SPID and it just says rear seat option. But if the weld nuts are factory placement then it goes in the middle. The rear plywood is not drilled for the 3rd seat. The rear seat I have also had 70-72 upholstery. Maybe they were swap out at the dealer when the gas tank went in???
