Re: WOW........2023 original miles
I noticed the fan shroud too. Is the same as a V8 shroud? Straight 6's usually had a metal pan shroud....never seen a full shroud on a 6,...that is cool. I want to do that too, but with the electric fan setup. Very nice truck!

Re: WOW........2023 original miles
It is my understanding that all I6's had a full shroud if and when the truck had AC, auto trans or hd colling added, and no they did not just add the same commonly found sb/V8 piece as the I6 one does have its own p/n. Mel

Re: WOW........2023 original miles
For anyone who has been trying to open the second link I added to the Ebay post, I have made the correction and added it as a 3rd link in the Ebay posting. The 3rd link has all of the pictures that should have pulled up by clicking on the 2nd link. Sorry about any confusion.

Re: WOW........2023 original miles
Everyone's got an opinion on what it's worth, but I can tell you -exactly- what it's worth: what it sells for. If it doesn't sell, it's worth less than opening bid.
At least it's got one legit-looking bid (and one from a zero-feedback account). Must be stressful selling stuff like that on eBay. |

After looking at the list in your signature. I think this would fit right in. I would like to see some pictures of your collection. Good luck with the purchase. I would love to have the extra money to bid against you

Re: WOW........2023 original miles
I guess that would be true if everyone had computers, would buy vehicles off Ebay, were all watching this item, and had immediate funds available at time of sale. A vehicle can be worth more than what it sold for,as well. That's how people make money "flipping".

Re: WOW........2023 original miles
Hey, Harley....I've already commented on your truck (nice), but just curious--has the oil filter been changed since the mileage is so low? Wondering what it looks like and the markings on it. Also, are the tags on the front suspension springs? I also noticed all the tower clamps for hoses--do those have any markings or date codes?
Lot of questions, but I'm a nut for this original stuff |

Re: WOW........2023 original miles
I believe it will be a fist fight in the last few seconds of bidding! Look for it to go over 20 K. I would take this over any of the painted up hussies that folks put together today. Reminds me of the 1964 Pontiac GTO that I bought new in 1964, first one delivered in Dallas Texas, Stripped to the bone: except for three dueces, four speed with heavy duty handling package. The little 250 six is plenty of engine, especially with the Powerglide. I have 70 Chevelle with powerglide and 307 but I also thought that 70 was last powerglide but!

Re: WOW........2023 original miles
I would be bidding if I believed it was really a 2000 mile truck. I don't. Unfortunately, I don't have the time to go look this week, and there is no way I would buy it unseen.
Sure it looks great, and it may be 2000 real miles, I just don't buy it from the pictures. I wish I had pictures of my 72 from when I bought it in '86, it was as clean on top and in the cab, and much cleaner on the bottom and in the engine compartment, and it had 116k miles. Chalk on the firewall and perfect steering wheel etc., etc, etc. The appraisal says avg undercarriage, how does that happen in 2000 miles? With those miles, it should look NEW. I would expect a collector/dealer to SAY it had original paint, not say it APPEARS to have original paint. It is virtually impossible to tell in photos, but Hi res shots of the bottom of the motor and tranny would help. Good luck with the sale, but coming from the collector camaro world, there just isn't enough proof of the miles. Of course, I believe it could be worth the starting bid even if it has more miles. Exceptional unrestored trucks are ridiculously hard to find. Caveat emptor. |

Re: WOW........2023 original miles
What I am saying is that I don't see any over-spray or any signs that it's had paint work done on it. I have not been with the truck for it's 41 years, so I don't feel that I can say that I know that it hasn't had paint work done. You can buy a 2 year old car today and it could have had paint work done on it, but you can't tell that it's had the work done. As for the miles, I guarantee the miles to be correct. As for the under-carriage, a lot of those parts weren't painted, or very little paint on them, with 41 years of having moisture in the air they will have a little surface-rust look to them. I'm not describing this to be a brand new truck that has been in climate-controlled weather all of it's life. I'm just trying to sell a very nice, original, low mile truck.

If only all the joe schmo's had pictures of "their" trucks they once owned that was cleaner than a 41 yr old survivor, that had been used and driven 116k miles and 14 years later. Life would be much simpler. |

Well, I happen to think it is a very nice truck. I also love the '67! Great color by the way.
Thank you for taking the time to post some pictures of this incredible ride! Keith |

As for being joe schmo with a truck I "once owned", you're wrong. I still own it, it has a lot more miles, it gets used regularly, and it still has rockers, frame and firewall that look as good as this truck. This truck may be everything the seller claims, he may be the nicest, most honest guy in the world, but I have seen too many ebay horror stories to EVER buy anything sight unseen, and I think anyone who buys that way is crazy. If I could see it in person and it really looks 2000 mile original in person, I would buy it in a heartbeat. You can't get to where this truck is for the money, IF it is real. It is by appearances a very nice truck, all I was saying is buy the condition, not a mileage figure that has no way to be substantiated. If you really want to be sure, here's some places to look. Pull the wheels - the brakes should look new, drums never turned, not even much dust on a 2000 mile vehicle, no wear at all where the shoes rub the backing plate, and wheel bearings and seals should look like new. Pull the transmission pan - nothing inside but clean fluid, no shavings or dirt, original filter. Should have original alternator, carb, points, plugs, condenser, cap and wires, or repair receipts (with miles recorded) for. Pull a rear axle - the bearing rides on it, it should look like new, that's something no one would ever replace when trying to cover up miles. A 2000 mile vehicle of any kind is a rare bird, and potentially worth a lot of money. There are demos on lots with over 2000 miles that you can't even tell have been driven. Absolutely the only wear on a 2000 mile vehicle should be from time. Only buy mileage if you are planning on putting it in a museum. Otherwise buy the best condition you can, and build it like you want, stock or modified. To the owner, good luck in the sale, I'm not trying to say you are not being honest. I just don't take anyones word for something that can't be verified. Last edited by barraza; 01-25-2012 at 09:06 PM. |

Re: WOW........2023 original miles
Harley--Here's a picture of my front spring on my '72 Cheyenne. I still had both tags on the right and the left springs. The truck has 53,000 original miles but has been sitting out in the elements for 40 years, including Kansas for the first 15 years in the snow. Are yours still there? Just curious.

I'm not where the truck is tonight. I'll look at the springs tomorrow and take a picture of the tags, if they're on there.
