Moving to the doors and I have some things to fix.

I had some sandblasting done on my doors and fenders, does anyone know how should I prep the surfaces until I can repair?

Started working on the doors and they need some patches. Any tips or advice on welding this together, butt weld, lap weld?

I'm fitting the patch panels on the doors, checking the fit and alinement before I cut for welding.

I did some panel alignment before I cut and weld the door skins

It's running good and I drove it a bit, how time flies.

I decided to stay away from welding the door patchs because I'm not much of a welder. I used a panel step tool and adhesive to glue the door patch skins together. I will use a tack weld in a couple of spots when I fold the edges over.

K5, not at this time.

A lot of cutting and welding will be coming so protecting the front.

I found there is a lot of spot welds holding these pieces together. I had to be real careful cutting the welds on the inner wheel lip and outer skin.

Wow, that pile of shrapnel really tells the story. How did it drive? It sure looks good. Thanks for telling about the build process and posting pictures. I actually can relate a lot more to a build like this than the custom ones.

I have the wheel tubs in and the floor painted, a lot of time for what seemed like a little rust repair.

It's been awhile since I've been back to check out this thread. You've made a lot of progress. I was thinking, this guy responds to every comment, why not mine? I went back and looked at it and maybe it wasn't clear. The shrapnel I referred to was this picture. And back aways you had mentioned you had been driving it but you never talked about what it was like to drive. So that was the nature of the question about that.

Thanks for checking back in. Yes, there have been a few piles of shrapnel while doing the rebuild. I have driven the truck but on small test drives checking how it runs, stops and looking for leaks, and damn the transmission pan has a drip.
