Re: LT1 GenV swap
Decided to make the fuel pump ring adapter work. Drilled the OR ring off, marked and cut the center out with a jig saw. Marked and drilled the 8 holes. Going to use fuel safe sealant between the tank and ring once I test fit the tank in the truck.
I bought this tank years ago for the 87, which has baffles for the efi... had to cut the raised section so the pump assembly would reach the bottom and be flat. Factory o-oring Going to use the 5/16 vent line or emissions line as the aux tank fill connection. Dont have a solution for the stock sender yet, but shouldnt be to hard to attwch the stock level sensor to the plastic bucket. Clint

Looks Great Clint! You are going to love this when you are done. I just got mine tuned by Pat G. here in Victoria. My fueling was all jacked up because of the intake tube I used. He fixed it and tuned the transmission as well, runs like a beast and will burn 35s like no ones business.

I just typed the right key words into the Google, found Speedway makes an interface module that can take any sender and output to any gauge up to 350 ohms iirc... I'll probably go this route since I plan to change the gauges to the dodge gauge cluster. Clint

Side tracked on things I didn't want to do... clean the firewall and re seam seal the wiper cowl to firewall due to it showing a small.rust trail on the paint... got most of the old seam seal out, gonna try for more then seal it, paint the firewall and move on with final assembly.
Did make a slick tool to install socketless hose fittings.. Made a separate thread for it to help others that might have trouble with them seating all the way. http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=742191 Clint

Re: LT1 GenV swap
Great work! I'm looking for more info on the compressor for the AC. I have a Gen 4 Magnum Vintage Air unit, just found out they do not make any brackets for the Gen V LT1 motor. I would like to mount it back in the original location as I have cut my center cross member on my 57 chevy, so lots of room.
My Vintage Air dealer suggested I use a fixed displacement compressor from a 2008 to 2010 LS block and modify the mounting brackets from there? Any other company making components for there AC systems? Thanks in advance. |

Re: LT1 GenV swap
Thanks 87chevy.com spoke to vintage air this afternoon, they told me that my Ac compressor from my 2015 Serria Denali 6.2 litre has a variable speed compressor, it will not work with any vintage air system. Vintage air must use a fixed displacement compressor?
Could you post more info about this, I believe Aaron is running a factory compressor as you stated or give me contact info? Really stuck for ideas, wanted to run all factory parts on this engine, just want to keep making progress on my install. Thanks in advance. |

Re: LT1 GenV swap
Just went through the whole thread, and got plenty of information. Thank you. I have a 2016 L83 with the 8L90, and looking forward to getting her wedged in to my 1992 single cab silverado. I just ordered the accessory bracket from DD, along with Sanden compressor and adapters for corvette water pump. I was also going to order the hydroboost brake booster, but just don't have enough information to pull the trigger. I was hoping to get you all's opinion. Thanks in advance for any information, and great thread.

Re: LT1 GenV swap
The hydroboost isn't a necessity, but definatly will give you clearance between the valve cover and it's trim cover. I have the mltor as far back and as low as it can go with clearance of course and the beauty cover to booster has only 1/4-1/2" clearance iirc.

Re: LT1 GenV swap
Was excited and then bummed at the same time about the L83 swap headers from speed engineering. E-mailed them and asked what did they mock them on, what mounts.. basically LS swap headers with L83 flange. I've already bought all the exhaust bends, custom flanges and collectors so I wont ne buying them. Based on their reply, passenger side will should look like this:
And didn't snap a picture of the driver side cause it just wouldn't bolt flush, hit the frame. So I would be curious if someone buys them and posts up how it fits. Got the electric fan shroud all cut out and mocked up, just need to break it down and fully weld it. Took a 19" 600 watt PWM fan , rigged up a surfacing fixture and used a router to make the edge pretty flat. Pleased how it turned out, now the cooling portion of the swap will operate like factory. Tested it and man it moves some air! End is near.. planning on October ish hopefully.

Designed a forming tool, got tired of grinding and test fitting. Got it pretty dam spot on..
This Saturday, I plan on getting the driver side header done. I've got the flanges, and starter tubes made so it's time to get these made! Clint

Re: LT1 GenV swap
Re did the header mockup, got a little more room and made it closer to equal length as I could.. wasn't trying for it, but turned out good. No special spark plug wires required
These plumbing caps work great if u needed to purge a tube.. I dont have that setup, be nice but works good for leak testing... just drill a hole in the middle of the bolt and connect a hose to it. I made one, just need to find it. Also, if you take it apart and have some BMW n62 valve cover bolts laying around (I'm a BMW Master tech, and just happened to have a few old ones in my tool box), you can take the rubber grommet off, push the bolt out, shorten the sleeve and presto, tight fitting insert that can be pushed into the small disc end so it can then be used to mount/hold a tube to the mockup MDF flange. Just snug the bolt to the flange and test fit till it grips the tube. Wrapping tape around a bolt and washer works too..

Re: LT1 GenV swap
Slow progress, but 2 tubes fully welded, 3rd all tacked and ready to be welded. Ran out of time tonight.
Fits pretty good Time got divided between another project. Got a good deal on a set of the Wilwood c-10 pro spindle kit. With hours of research and cad work and think I got a working setup. 330mm x26mm /13" x 1.25 rotor on the C6 Corvette calipers. Corvette rotors wont work on these massive hubs. Got another rotor in mind that only requires a small mod. It looks like it may not clear my 17" torq lite American racing wheels.. they did a goofy stupid inner barrel design and it has such an angle it makes putting wheel weights on a bear.. so if the 13" setup doesn't fit, just gonna use the larger 350mm / 13.7" rotor and c6 caliper. Clint

Re: LT1 GenV swap
Got a little side tracked but now back on track.
Wilwood c-10 pro spindles with 328mmx30mm rotor and the dual 52mm piston PBR gmt900 caliper from 08+ trucks. Phew, successfully successful in mockup! I have about 1/8 of room between the caliper and rim/wheel weights. If I had larger than 17" wheels I could have done the 350mmx32mm rotors but dont so didnt... Clint
