Re: How To: Ruin a Perfectly Good 4wd
Nah, I think we stick with plan A. Just found out I’ll have a 6-week training course between now/then that will steal away precious garage time...
Still plan on pounding on some rivets this week, though

Re: How To: Ruin a Perfectly Good 4wd
Hey Chris, looking good...Wish I had found rear axle mounts when I did mine, would have saved a bunch of time. About 5 yrs ago another 2wd conversion moved the front crossmember forward 1"....making 105" wheelbase, it did look better IMO centering the front wheels in the opening..to late on mine I had already mounted it....something to consider......Ed.

Parts look good painted up. I know you are putting bags, but what are you using to control them?

Re: How To: Ruin a Perfectly Good 4wd
Mr. Crazy White Dood, you're too kind. My junk is nothing special. Just an overpowered clunker. lol. I think I'm gonna maybe start to straiten the body and make it nice.
On a side note, nice find on that Blazer. Looks pretty mint. I'd hate to know what you had to give for it....Especially after cruising CL and looking what guys want for total jalopy basket case Blazers. Insanity.

Hey Chris - did you mention what size tires you got? Considering the same setup on my 72 2wd down the road.

Re: How To: Ruin a Perfectly Good 4wd
They are 245/40 and 275/40. A 295 would be better on the 10 wheel.

Re: How To: Ruin a Perfectly Good 4wd
So what's going on this one now? I saw that you sold the wheels that were destined for it.
I have let my imagination run away thinking that the trucks wheels will go on the Blazer, because you have some much better wheels on the way for the truck! Am I right?

Re: How To: Ruin a Perfectly Good 4wd
Well, kinda but not really. Yes, the truck will be getting better wheels, but not immediately. This build has been indefinitely back-burnered to focus on getting the truck going. I, too have been staring at a pile of parts for a yeartime to remedy that...

Re: How To: Ruin a Perfectly Good 4wd
Those grilles look so much better with a little black paint on them.
And keeping the "correct" black steel headlight bezels is perfect. (I hate the 71-72 headlight bezels in these grilles)
