Re: 1967 C10 Custom Big Window

All I can say is WOW!!! I have just read the whole build and felt like I was there the whole time feeling your excitements and disappointments during the build. I am new here to the forums and already see how supportive the members can be. I really think if it wasn't for their support your build might not have been as successful. Keep up the hard work because you have got one beautiful ride that I could only wish for one day.

Absolutely. Bartering work is cool, to bad I didn't have some moonshine to barter with instead of work!

I decided to paint all the sides and tailgate and do a faux wood bed in it with a blonde wood like oak. Lot's of polyurethane to make it look nice and shiney and some polished stainless steel strips to set it all off.

That will look killer in the bed. You would like it up here in the summer. Just make sure you come between July 4th and July 5th when the weathers nice! it has not been a very good year for weather around here. Keep up the nice work.

It should be pretty cool....if it comes out like I want it to. I'm still waiting on the funds, but it is getting harder to wait on this truck to be done.

I'm about to start packin. After over 20 days straight days with 100+ degree temps and 115 with the heat index. Anything is better than this! The bed will be done a little later, so I'm concentrating on getting the engine painted and back in the truck.

Re: 1967 C10 Custom Big Window

I went and picked up some paint today so I could get the engine repainted, highway robbery at it's best. $250 a pint. Should have the engine painted and start the rebuild by this weekend.......hopefully!!! Keepin my fingers crossed. Here is a pic of the pint of candy and of course I got the pint of orange also. Hope to have some good pics of this happening (again) soon! All I had was my phone with me so I'll get some pics of it with my camera.

Re: 1967 C10 Custom Big Window

Here is my engine after feathering out some of the chipped paint and using a scotch-brite pad all over it. Went ahead and got it ready for tomorrow mornings painting and masked everything and stuck those hole fill thingys in all of the holes on the block to protect the threads. She's gonna look sweet by noon tomorrow!

Re: 1967 C10 Custom Big Window

Paint didn't happen today, but it did give me an opportunity to prep a couple of other peices for paint. Tomorrow the paint will be shot God willin!!!! I did take my cruizer to the shop today with the hopes that the paint matched the truck paint pretty close........yahtzee!!! The only difference is the blue pearl in my truck, but that does not show up until you are close to it. Do you think it matches? It is riding in the back of my truck to shows.

Re: 1967 C10 Custom Big Window

On to business........paint!!! Finally go that 8 holed block of steel painted! Started rebuilding it today too. Got the water pump on and the manifold and I was happy with that much progress. Also made a temporary cover for the firewall and painted that, and put them on. Then the Jack and 7 started flowing so not much happened after that.............tomorrow!!!! Did I mention it was 114 degrees today??

I have the old Chevrolet script valve covers that look better IMHO. These fit the theme of the truck since I have the 55 Bel Air emblem on the bedside. She will look like this again......her former glory!
