I'll never get tired of the details. So keep this thread going with how you use it and post previously unposted pics of the work process. I'll Look!

Re: off it goes

buttoning up some things on the interior now that we got all the gauges working. Has any issue with no fuel gauge but turned out to be a faulty sending unit, all fixed... Also took the NOS door handles and polished the inserts to a mirror finish, being as there is nothing else on the truck brushed. Polishing the shifter, tilt lever and signal as well

Building a small, high rpm engine with the perfect bore, stroke and rod ratio is very impressive.
It's like a highly skilled Morrocan sword fighter with a Damascus Steel Scimitar.....

Re: off it goes

As the engine rocks in its mounts, will it over-stress the intake tube? I'm not seeing any flex joint in the intake.

question: could/would you go into a little detail of how/what you did for the body "vent openings"- wiper arms openings above the firewall (post 1256) I would like to try to do something similar... thank you in advance

the two band clamps right at the intake are on a rubber tube...it just blends in well with the intake tube

the vent opening up by the wiper arms I laser cut from a piece of 11 Ga. stainless and then we built wooden bucks the same shape as the holes and we then formed the stainless wire mesh to fit inside the holes. My intention at one time was to leave it shiny but I changed direction through the project and painted everything. I wanted it all to blend and kind of get lost with everything else so we painted it body color. As for the wipers...here's hoping I don't get caught in the rain, lol. I went with a cable driven wiper system from a street rod so that this way there would be no big ugly wiper motor on the firewall.

thank you for your answer, it appears that the laser cut piece is attached at the factory holes? also would you share how the wire mesh is attached to the laser cut piece?

thank you again

Yes laser cut piece is an exact copy of the factory plastic one, so yes mounting holes all lined up. As for the mesh, we used a panel bond adhesive to keep them in place. We used the panel bond because at that time I was leaving the finish mirrored so we couldn’t tack weld it, but now that we painted it we could of done a small tack to keep them in place.

Re: off it goes

I like the filler pieces you made for the bumpers. Did you attach them to the body or to the fenders?

Rick

This has to be the nicest Squarebody ever built (EDIT: hell, it might be the nicest truck ever built...). It is on my bucket list to see it once it's done.
