Re: What Did You Do With Your Truck Today ?

I worked on my frame after going to pick and pull and looking for a camaro t5.
I am thinking about a warm six and a 5 speed. I have a decent 250 but would like to have a 292. the good part it is the intake, exhuast snd valve cover will fit both.

Never driven a I6 before, but I decided on dumping a 292/5 speed in mine when I was doing the build. Something different and I am amped to see how she runs.

Ordered the rebuild kit for the Monojet carb. I am going with the stock setup until I decide to change the setup around to split exhaust.

Ditched the junk quadrajet for an Edelbrock 1406... Huge difference!!! New fuel pump and fuel lines. New plug wires. Dual radiator mounted electric fans!!! Busy day with lots of progress!

Re: What Did You Do With Your Truck Today ?

Had to replace my well pump, but indoors I made a decal for "Patty Cakes", using my wife's photo and an Air force Logo. The truck was an Airforce "follow me" truck at Nellis AFB, and Patty was the the one that wanted us to have it for some fun. So in her memory she will always have a place to ride shotgun.

Re: What Did You Do With Your Truck Today ?

Test fit the bumper and welded in the 1 3/4 tubing plugs that slide in the 2" tube welded to the frame for the bumper. Filled in the top to more closely match the body/fender coutour at the fender curve, cut and filled the sides to match the wheel opening angle and found out I put the whole thing in UPSIDEDOWN! .....but I like it. It's off to the chrome shop today.

I will get the numbers and pm you. I am not planning to use it again, so I am sure we can work something out if it works for your application. Gotta work tonight, so I will get the info to you tomorrow.

OK Agnes. Is it a side inlet or straight inlet? I'll wait for you to get the numbers.

Re: What Did You Do With Your Truck Today ?

I spent a good portion of the last few days reading-reading-reading on which lock up style I want to use for my 700r4 conversion that is taking place in a couple weeks. Im either going to build a system , or modify a TCI set up with vacuum and a brake switch. Pulled the trigger and ordered all Lokar throttle, pedal , TV cable and brackets instead of using wrecking yard and fabbed stuff.

Re: What Did You Do With Your Truck Today ?

I spent a few hours shoving, measuring & finding the right compromise for engine & trans placement. Then I cleared all the obstructions (should have done this 1st) and test fit.
Tomorrow, if I get time, I'll be welding...

Hopefully the rain will subside enough to celebrate my new baby boy by bringing him home in the 59 fleetside.

Thanks, after having all girls with a truck hobby almost always on the mind it really will be fun to have a little boy to help with the truck. The girls call the truck "Ed" so we will have to see if my new co-mechanic will agree with the name.

Fixed my gas gauge. The float had a crack in it and had filled up with gas.

Re: What Did You Do With Your Truck Today ?

Removed the clunking rear Dana 45 that I couldn't get parts for and installed the fresh rebuilt 10 bolt from a 2 wheel drive 68 chevy truck. Added dropped blocks, new ubolts, brake lines, shocks etc. Just need to bleed the brakes and burn in the saddles after setting the pinion in the morning. Moved to the front enda after lunch. Pulled the stock axle and installed a 4.5 inch dropped Sids axle with new steering parts incl. New style tie rods. Have the tapered bearings kit and all new brake parts to install tomorrow morning. Should be driving it to lunch! Next weeked is the motor swap and 700r4 conversion whoo hoooo!
