Re: My Highschool Project truck a 1969 GMC C20 (Old Blue)

Got a little done today. I figured out how to fix my float problem and I got rid of the rust spots on my back bumper thanks to va72c10.

This is how I've been rollin Where did the gold paint come from?

Pretty much spotless! Well accept from the dent I put in it the other day from backing into a trailer.

Wow that thing has been on there for so long I don't even remember. It's a frame mounted hitch but theres no room for a spare. I'm pretty sure you can buy them. Do you want a pic of it?

Re: My Highschool Project truck a 1969 GMC C20 (Old Blue)

Yesterday I was out in the garage looking for something to do when I rememberd I had a spare hood. The one on my truck is pretty wavy and this one is pretty straight. So why not? I'm doing some body work to it.

You can see my manual labor

How do you straighten the hood braces? They're bent down a little and I can't get them to come back.

Hopefully today I can get the tailgate off the donor truck and get that on today.

Re: My Highschool Project truck a 1969 GMC C20 (Old Blue)

Update;
Well I have been working like crazy on those parts to get them ready for paint. Takes forever!
Bad news, I went to go play golf for the first time this year and didn't play well. To top it off my truck started running like crap so I opened the hood to play with the carb and see if I could get it to run good and heard what sounded like a valve hitting the number 1 piston.

Re: My Highschool Project truck a 1969 GMC C20 (Old Blue)

the hidden hitch is a trick piece, but i personally like the hitch to be seen on my 72 burb so people can see i really use it like a truck is staying at stock ride height so the hidden hitch would be too high off the ground. also, don't know what the cops would think if they couldn't see my plate when it is flipped up. i believe the hidden hitch is rated for a max of 5,000 pounds. that isn't heavy duty enough for a 1/2 ton in my eyes, so definitely not rugged enough for my 3/4 ton truck. i'm looking at a 15,000 pound rated class iv receiver from jcwhitney and yes it will cost like $200. everything costs tons these days.

i am guessing you have a hitch with a square tube that goes down the middle instead of the two more standard rails in line with the frame rails......thats why you can't access an under bed spare.

Off the top of my head it's bolted straight to the frame rails. But I'll look at it later today.

Haven't had time to tear the motor down yet. I have been way too busy. I've got my grandpas Ranger that now needs a new front tire and a water pump. Just seems like I can't win huh?

Re: My Highschool Project truck a 1969 GMC C20 (Old Blue)

Sorry guys I haven't had much time to update you guys on the computer, but now I have a blackberry so here's the update: I still haven't had time to tear into it yet. I've been busy with racing, work, or just taking a break and partying or something with friends. I actually had to drive it the other day to school and a bon fire, I should have taken pics. I also put a water pump on the ranger (pita) and now it just needs front tires (broken belt) and a o2 sensor.
-m hoping that while I'm saving up to buy parts for my truck, it'll stop raining so I can get some body work done on it because that's free
-d like to put roller lifters, roller rockers, and an intake on it while I have it apart but I don't thibk ill have the funds for it lol. But I forsure want to put an intake on it.

I know of and see like 7 of our generation trucks almost on a daily basis. There is a really sweet 72 shortbox that lives down the street from me. One of these days I should take some pics of them.

Lilmis71, do you have a build thread or pics or your truck? I love seeing other peoples trucks.

Oh and btw this is in math class and its long enough that I don't want to proof read :lol;
