I love it! Are you going to run the '67 bumperless, or is it temporary?

It's got a sport bumper on it now, that pic is from this last fall. Colorado has a deal where if your collector vehicle already has plates and registration you fill out a one page form and send a copy of proof of insurance and registration with the plate number off the YOM plate and they send you a secondary registration card for that plate for occasional use...for free!

Alabama has something similiar where you can register a YOM tag for $12 for life. We do have to run a reflective "V" for Vintage decal. Some people make a separate plate bezel to the side or below the plate, but it looks better just being on the plate, IMO. Here's mine on my '68.

Re: Vintage YOM License Plate Thread

I unfortunately collect and trade plates from around the world.

In the UK every car is issued with a YOM plate but you can add an older plate to your car.

Will post some pics later.

Re: Vintage YOM License Plate Thread

In the UK, plates are not as exciting as in the USA.

Various series have existed over the years and people will try to manipulate numbers and letters to write something.

Originally it was alpha numeric, various combinations.

In 1963 they started the "A" series. Where you had 3 letters, three numbers followed by the letter A, in 1964 it was "B" etc.

Then in the 70's the whole lot were inverted when all the letters were used up.

In 2001 a whole new series was started, changing between two formats every 6 months, denoting the period. Changeover is on the 1st March and 1st September.

Known by the year, or a variation that started with 01 and 51 we just started the 14 plate this weekend...... denoting 2014 and in September it will change to 64

MAD MAD MAD.....

Here is a thread I started on Garagejournal.com

http://garagejournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=123962

A few pics of my garage rafters, I have started on the reverse now.....

Used to have a lot like this to swop out, South African.

Some plates from Hong Kong

Started getting crowded

Possibly my most favourite plate ever, a Purple Heart from a double receiver friend in Arkansas. Thanks Steve,

Some specials I got this year

Thailand plates arrived last week.

And some I got over the weekend at a car show.

I am always looking for speciality plates, like disabled, veteran, army etc.

Here is the plate I got for my 65 Mustang. I will have to dig out the plates for the c10 and post them too after all the snow and ice melts. (*edited because the original from my phone was HUGE)

Re: Vintage YOM License Plate Thread

G'day all, I'm researching US plates and trying to find one that will suit my truck. I'm favouring the old Wyoming plates. I get that 20 stands for Washakie County but I've seen a couple that had two B's on top of each other at the end of the plate. Do these B's have any significance?

Re: Vintage YOM License Plate Thread

Here are my 2 BO scented tags I picked up for the truck. Not NOS like the tag for my Mustang unfortunately. Not sure which one I want to use yet but both look like they need some restoration work. Leaning towards the "Oklahoma is OK" non com'l tag.

Re: Vintage YOM License Plate Thread

In Indiana you can run YOM plates but you have to have a current registered Antique plate inside the vehicle. Plus the BMV has to approve the plate.

I'm planning on running a '67 Vanderburgh County (where I live) plate once I find a decent one.

I currently have a '67 Kentucky plate on the front of my truck. It was given to me by a friend and is the county I grew up in.

Re: Vintage YOM License Plate Thread

I couldn't find a farm tag or one for Bath County, so went with this one. We don't run front plates, real one is on the back and says Historic Vehicle.

Yeah, what's up with the "BO" smell. I purchased two pair of vintage plates for possible use on my truck and they both showed up smelling like BO. I've also run across several plates from the 60's and 70's at antique shops and they have that same smell. Maybe it the shellac or clear coat they used back then.

THANKS ALOT GUYS!

So I go pull out all my old plates, and I'm smelling them. My wife sees me and asks the question: "What are you doing?" In the midst of my focused determination I blurt it out: "Smelling them to see if they smell like BO!".

Now she thinks I'm more retarded than she already did!

For the record, none of my plates smell like BO...

Sorry but I did actually laugh out loud when I read that.

I hope you said it like it was a perfectly normal thing to be doing.

Re: Vintage YOM License Plate Thread

I was at an antique store one time looking at this one display area that was full of old plates when this lady walked over, looked around, sniffed, gave me the hairy eye and walked away. My first thought was, "This lady thinks I'm the one that smells this bad!"

I have a few of my own to add. Since I already have DMV registered YOM plates on my '70, I took some scans of a couple of my plates and superimposed them. I will show my actual YOM plates in a future post (and I can guarantee you that you will never see another pair like them).
