i just picked up the crossmember,a arms and dust shields from the powedercoater.looks sweeet all black n shiney.plus i got my narrowed rear framerails almost finished up/welded. the ol D.Y. is comming around. pics tomorrow i'm beat phipp out!

We just got the cab bottom blasted and POR15ed as well as the frame. Jeff @ CPP hooked me up with the 2 1/2" modular drop spindles i needed. he's working hard on CPP'S rep and he's got my biz from now on. gotta let this stuff cure for a few days. assembly is right around the corner!!!!

that was the new frame i just narrowed the rear and raised it up over the top of the old frame. this will allow me to drop the frame in the rear without my qa1s poking thru the bed floor. i see many drop jobs that have a box running from wheel tub to wheel tub that hides the upper part of the shock. i personally don't like that look. my bed floor will be raised 4" from the stock location but, it'll look stock.

The "Damn Yankee" got back burn-erd for a while. my back went out 4th of July weekend. Plus July and August had been excessively hot and humid in the Mid- Atlantic region this year. Well the heat wave is over and it's back on track for the D/Y. more pics to come soon. phipp out!

thanks for your input. i have already bought a 2" cowl induction hood. the hood poll was very helpfull. i did see an oldskool truck with the louvered hood and it looked great on it but, it just won't work whith the custom look i'm trying to achieve. phipp

Great work going on here, thanks for sharing.

I have a quick question, if you don't mind, about your inner cab roof repair. I like the idea of plugging the slots, and have contemplated this myself, but wondered what I'd do about the 'step' left from the overlapping panels.

What is your plan for this area?

i finally got the cab in primer.i now have a rust free cab to work with. it would have been much less trouble to go south like TX and buy one but my son would'nt have learned much on rebuilding a 72 c-10.. cell phone photos i'll take better onesw and replace these ones soon

The ol DAMN YANKEE is still in the works. SLOW but comming along. in Aug i recieved my box of header tubing from STAHL. i will be building a custom set of tuned stepped headers. The headers will start out at the flange 1 3/4" for the first 6" and transition into 1 7/8" to 3" 15" long collectors. After a long conversation with Mr. Stahl this will really help the torque off idle. Also since my last post i aquired a larger blower. i ditched the B&M 142 and now i'll be running a Weiand 177 topped off with an 850 Speed Demon carb. i have aquired all my rear end bits n peices also. New Moser axels, ends, Disc brakes and a master rear overhaul kit. I have just about completed The fabrication of the rear is nearing completion and will soon be headed to the powdercoater for finishing before final assembly. below is a recent pic taken this past week. Tomorrow i will repaint the frame( top coat over the POR-15) and get to assembling everything. i still have to locate my panhard bar mounts on the rear, weld in the upper coilover mounts. i'm cutting the rear crossmember out and replacing it with a 1 off tubular one i designed and fabricated. this will allow me to run the exhaust all the way out the rear i hope! This project started out as a father son project but, my son left and has been serving in the military stationed out on the west coast. So it's a slow roll but i hope to be smoking the tires off the ol DY in 2012. Stay Tuned! Thanks for all the support and kind words! The people is what makes this forum so great ! R, Phipp

Rear looks TOUGH!!! Looking forward to seeing the frame completed and some bigger pictures . Glad you're still plugging along on it. I'm sure the headers are going to come out also super nice with your welding skills!!!

The old Damn Yankee almost died 1000 deaths this year. But I'm back in the saddle and getting going again on her. Health reasons almost was the death of my dream build. more to come real soon. Phipp

Great job on the cab.
I was cringing when you closed the roof up without laying down some radiant barrier first though because that would have really made the difference on the hot days when combined with some radiant barrier window tint.

Xeen, it never dawned on me to do that! Man i wish you spoke up that is a great idea especially now that i have finally decided to paint the truck gloss black w/maybe a 2 tone on top or something to make the paint a 1 off paint job. R, phipp
