Re: The Fuse is Lit...

Nice work on the cab. You can do what you want with your paint. For me I'm going with solid red, so I am kinda partial.

Re: The Fuse is Lit...

If you go with the white top, also paint the windshield posts and door window frames to match. I would do the grill also if you went that route, but not the bottom of the body.

Re: The Fuse is Lit...

Are you going to be using all of the factory trim , if you are running all of the factory trim i like a white top, if you are shaving all of the trim all red , just my 2 cents

Re: The Fuse is Lit...

Thanks for the opinions. I am still trying to decide for sure.
Thought you might want to see the undercoating I put on the other day.

Wow, I think I need to use some Windex on that camera lens.

nice work...and the lens may not be dirty...if you had just finished spraying it might have picked up the particles in the air...happened to me all the time when documenting my last build...

Diggin the roticerie. I bet that makes it a lot easier hitting the roof. Hey, you got any fingerprints left? Gotta love sanding.

Re: The Fuse is Lit...

my favorite part of sanding was the door jambs and the roof on the inside! that was fun your lucky you have a big window! less metal.....

The rotiserre is the best! First time I have used one and would hate to go back to just sawhorses!
I was just thinkin' in the first post that now would be a good time to rob a bank because I would be hard to fingerprint...lol.

Re: The Fuse is Lit...

Rocketking, Have you test fitted the cab with the engine/trans in place? I tried putting my 4.8/4l80e all the way back like yours and the trans hit the pinch weld on the cab when I tried installing the trans mount. I ended up modifying my adapter plates to both be like your passenger side(1.75" forward). Body work is lookin great by the way!

Re: The Fuse is Lit...

What is the main reason for moving the engine towards the back? Just to close the gap at the firewall or to gain clearence for the cooling fan(s)? thanks

Re: The Fuse is Lit...

Room up front and wieght transfer were my reasons for trying, oh and it was easier to put it all of the way back because of the adapter plates i have.

Not yet. Looks like we will be have the cab painted next week and we will fit then. I have been sweating this very question because I have seen others hit the pinch weld. Glad you were able to fix yours without to much problem.
Thanks for the compliment on the body, I hope the major work on the cab is done!

My main reason was for more clearence up front.
I have a pic of how much clearance I have now, but its on my home computer. You could possibly cut the pinch weld off to make clearance, but mine was already hitting with the trans just sitting on the cross member, no trans mount.

Re: The Fuse is Lit...

Great looking build...love the swap!!

How did you prep the intake for paint? Did you remove lots off of it before spraying it or just taped off bits?
