Re: 67-72 Chev Crewcab Build 2nd Gen

Well when I went out to the shop this morning I was going to only spend two hours on this particular project ended up spending all day. I've decided that this next crew cab I'm building for myself is going to have extended doors in the back so I decided to go ahead and work that out. In spite of the fact that it definitely kicked my ass. I got most of it worked out. It looks like I have to spend a whole nother day Welding grinding so on so forth. Sometimes when I come up with this stuff, if I don't just go ahead and get it worked out right away. it'll nagg at me until I do.

Re: 67-72 Chev Crewcab Build 2nd Gen

I have been reading your threads, and FB stuff. This winter I would like to come visit your shop. about a week ago my plan for the truck sounded cool. org/wht '71 duramax, ZF6, divorced NP205, 1 tons.
I have all the parts needed for this truck.
Now I can't imagine this truck without a crew cab.

I'm trying to picture a crew cab short bed on 38s. I truly feel that 67-72 longbeds look way better than shortbeds when lifted above 4". But when you add the length of the cab, plus 8' or bed, That's getting LONG.
My brother lives in Everett, WA and he regularly drives his '91 crew long bed on 35s down I5 to visit.

Re: 67-72 Chev Crewcab Build 2nd Gen

Well I thought I would bring you guys up to date on some of the projects were are working on here at Rtech Fabrications.

First, I have been building a C50 crew cab that will be replacing my current green and white crew cab which I have put up for sale for $45,000.00. This current crew cab I am building will be the same color combination, medium olive and white with both upper and lower chrome which will obviously have to be modified to work on a C50 body configuration. I am building it on a 2 1/2 ton frame with a one ton running gear, 5.9 cummins and nv4500 with a 205 transfer case.

As far as the body goes the crew cab has been modified from it's usual crew cab configuration. I have installed a electric sunroof which we will be offering in all our future crew cab builds. Secondly, we are installing a LTZ interior, including the console and are modifying the dash to accommodate the on-board navigation, back-up camera and sound system. Lastly, all the heating and air conditioning is being relocated to underneath back end of the cab and should be totally quiet.

This truck will be running 37" E rated tires and which will have the bottom of the doors at 37" from the ground and it will have pneumatic steps. I parked my current crew cab next to it and it made it look like a little bitty truck.

If you would like more update day to day progress on any of the projects follow Rtech Fabrications on facebook.

Re: 67-72 Chev Crewcab Build 2nd Gen

Need to give more updates on this project but for now the dashboard for the K50 crew cab is finally out of the paint booth. We actually have a few more these dashboards that we now have to build for other projects. We will keep you updated on the progress / evolution of this design. The dash pad is going to be a song black leather design to match the LTZ black leather interior.

That looks like a very good way to use extra glove box doors! Nice work on the dash!
