Re: 70 GMC 4wd version
Your truck is looking great. I like your idea of the work truck paint job. Yours will sure looks better with time than the primer I put on my 95 Ford Crew cab.

Re: 70 GMC 4wd version
ya I took a few months off from it, then I put on a fitech fuel injection kit on it and drove it for about 3 months. Never really was to happy with it, so I sold the fuel injection to a buddy of mine and sold the big block and the 700r4 about 2 weeks ago.

Re: 70 GMC 4wd version
Today I got the donor truck stripped down and ready to pull the motor and the transmission tomorrow, Also go the dirty dingo motor mounts installed. They are great quality and I would recommended them to anyone, however I was a little disappointed that I had to modify my relatively new ss brakes lines because the mounts don't have a provision to allow them to pass thru.
heres the donor truck I bought for 900.00 bucks Dirty dingo mounts |

Re: 70 GMC 4wd version
yes it is a 5.3 ls. I am going to be running the 5.3 with 4l60e out of the donor truck also along with my 208 transfer case, just have to figure out how to make the vss work as it is the transfer case out of the donor truck.
The mount/crossmember is a dirty dingo unit, I went with it because I really liked how the bottom part is removable incase a oil pan is ever needed to be removed while the engine is in the vehicle. |

Re: 70 GMC 4wd version
following the ls swap
I have a longhorn chassis that's getting converted to 4x4 this winter and was looking at the dirty dingo crossmember as its getting a 6.0/4l80 I used the mounts the dirty dingo mounts in our suburban that got 6.0/4l80. There mounts fit perfectly. LS swap is best thing I ever did to that truck.

Re: 70 GMC 4wd version
No my 208 is out of a 85 k5 blazer so it is a passenger side drop. I just need to figure out how to make it read a vss. From what little research I have done I believe I can take the 241? Apart out of the donor truck and rob the vss and the reluctor out of it and the just drill and tap my tail shaft on my 208.

Re: 70 GMC 4wd version
ive found if they turn out sideways..i rotate them to correct...usually they will be right..if not then i then crop the sides off and they will usually stay right side up

Nice truck. Reminds me of my youth and first 72. Growing up in in the snow. Good work on the mods.
