I second everyone above, great job, and yes you make it look so easy! Looking back I wish I would have used patch panels myself instead of welding in just an bottom angle but no dineros lol. And as always many thanks for the pictures and write up.

No matter your range of experience, there will always be things you wish you should have done differently. I have several things on my mind. There will be more once I get all of the systems working.

I checked on line with homedepot for wood. A 1X8 red oak is $4.10/linear foot. I figured the cost with tax to be around $350. There are only 2 boards of the 10 runs that a 1X6 wood work, so I just figured all 10 runs at 8" wide. I will contact some cabinet shops to see what their cost would be. If there isn't much difference in price why not just buy them pre made, other than just the satisfaction of doing it yourself.

Choose a type of wood that is not available pre-made. Then it makes the decision easy, and the truck more custom.

Great idea. I found Peach State Lumber that has a lot of different kinds of wood. Here is their Web site

Finally got around to cutting up a tree that my dad cut down in the spring. Everyone needs a great neighbor like Shannon. I told him I was splitting wood and he was over in no time. Good thing I hand a rand handed axe. Had to get an action shot.



I found a new sand blaster/powder coater 8 miles from the house. Anyone in the area needs to check him out. He has a great place with great equipment. Custom Powder Worx ask for Ervin @ 404-216-4230. He has a big oven to powder coat frames. Tell him I referred you. I get nothing off of it. I asked him if it would be ok if I put his info here, since he doesn't advertise. He is about 5 miles off exit 27 on I-575.

I vote for the Bubinga under the exotics. It has some really nice grain. Of course that is without knowing the cost.

At the Texas Classic Car Show in Austin this weekend a guy had an F100 with a Granite bed. It was definitely different. Unfortunately it was in the last row we looked at and everyone was bugging me to leave, so I did not get a photo.

I feel ya Bugeye. I've been catching up on threads for the past month. Had a job selling ice cream the past year and half, 80 hour weeks in nebraska all week. Had enough and opened shop back up the first of October. My girlfriend says I'm addicted to this forum! She also wonders why I have those "junk" pickups, I tell her those are my retirement projects.......someday. Great build Alan. Was gonna start on my 68 first but liking yours so might start with my 64 short fleet.

Yeah - my ex had the same perspective. When she irritated me enough about the TLC I gave to my "projects", I explained that - unlike her - they could, with enough love and money, be cherries again.

I don't remember much after that, except having to get some ice for my head.

Thanks David. For the most part I do take all of the pics. But my neighbor does the action shots. I think we take turns catching each other in action on our projects. Have you seen sdaileys build yet? If not HERE it is.
