Grew up in Idaho. Had alot of California hunters come up and shoot cows. (moo). We started calling them slow elk.

My wifes is from Idaho Falls. We usually go through the park or take the routes south on the west side and through West Yellowstone when we go to visit. Her mom lives in St Anthony where they have the sand dunes. Very fun place to play with a truck. Another good source for solid sheetmetal also.

hgs_notes, I envy all you people that had the chance to grow and live in the great open spaces of our country, I on the other hand only had 1 week to enjoy it, but it will be memories that I keep a lifetime

From Bozeman south for 1 hour I must have seen 30 trucks of our vintage!!

One more day and I will post up more pics of the Lokar install...

Bank fishing using corkies and yarn, sand shrimp salmon row, allowing the weight to just lightly tap across the bottom on occasion, also spinners and spoons. Where i live now were talking about salmon and steelhead. I don't have a drift boat but its pretty much the same concept, i have been in drift boats and river sleads tho, its a kick in the pants! However i grew up in eastern washington fishing for trout, in rivers and streams i used a lot of wedding rings tipped with a worm or night crawler, sometimes just a worm with some split shot.

understand completely, I've always used a noodle rod, but my son bought a fly rod for me for Christmas, soooo, I've only been flyfishing two or three times. I think he did it because I was catching more fish then he was on the noodle rod

We usually start fishing Salmon in Sept., and then switch over to Steelhead in Nov., Dec. We use drift boats after Dec. as it gets toooo cold to stand in the water for 8-10 hours (15 degrees last Feb)

had to reverse the mounting plates, since they would interfere with the shift arm, also radiused the plate about 3/32". Then it was just drilling 2 5/16" holes and cutting 2 parallel lines with my Dremel cutoff wheel


bending the ring to match the hump is the next challenge




next step is to work on the actual linkage...problems! Seems the billet aluminum arm on the trans. is better suited for 5/16" then the 1/4" rod and ends that come with the kit. Sooo, calling McMaster-Carr, they had the rod ends and rod instock (5/16"), ship today, have tomorrow. Gotta luv a welled stocked hardware store online

went a little beefier then the stock screws, it's a truck ,right?
still have to trim the boot more

rod ends w/studs to replace the original parts, 5/16" instead of 1/4"

the advantage of using a stud on the rod end is that the billet arm has a recess machined in the backside, and this is just the right size to hold the hex head of the stud



don't forget to use anti-sieze on any stainless hardware, or it will gall and snap the bolt...still need to change out to a stud, probably change to LH thread to make it easier the adjust

new set back...
PO felt the need to resize the pivot bolt hole for the transfer case shifter, no provision for the bushing, just drilled and tapped bigger. Out comes the T/C, again!

All I wanted to do was mount the ring and boot, but that ain't happenin' till I fix the pivot bolt, and while I'm in there, I might as well put new seals and bearings in the coupler

J/K, sorry to hear you have to take it out again, I know re-engineering crap sucks. Luckily, I only had to pull the T/C twice when I put the throwout bearing in backwards.

Its like it never ends. It takes 10 steps to accomplish a task that should take only one. At this point in the game we have to laugh at it and then gitrdone. U can do it Jim!

Ok, seeing your pic's brought back some memorys i'd just assume forget, all i had was a small 1 ton floor jack and it was not tall enough to lift my T case or my tranny high enough to do the install, so i ended up pushing them off to the side a little and positioned myself under the center of my truck, then i pulled the tranny onto my chest and used my arms and my knee to heft it up into place, then i had to do the same with the T case.. that was a beotch!

OK, ordered up the Twin Stick and long shift rails from ORD, should be here in a couple days! Since the mount for the shifter doesn't use the factory hole, I can use the defective coupler that is in the truck with new seals from 4X Heaven outta NY

The boot may cause a problem, but what else is new? Right!

Been there done that, but I am much wiser to the mechanical techniques for solving problems (hydraulics). I'm big on the right tool for the job, plus I'm 60 and still have upper body strength, a trans on my chest would probably break a rib

plus. plus it was only 100 bucks at Harbour Freight

used some exhaust manifold studs to help get things aligned, don't forget to put it in gear and rotate the tailshaft, don't ask how I know...




problem with the passenger side diagonal brace on the crossmember, need to cut a 1 1/2" square to clear the pivot bolt

Just make sure the rear of the 205 is mounted correctly, ask me how I know.
