Haha. I want her to be able to drive it if something happens. She said it scares her. Here are some pics of my emblems I had made and rusted to match.

Re: You guessed it, 1950 s10 swap.

So you are saying the truck intake is more than sufficient, Good to know. From what I know, the engine I bought had "lifter tick" and so I will have to replace the cam and lifters anyway. Here is another question, when you bought the LS1 intake, did you try to make sure to get the intake, rails and injectors in a package deal? Am I asking for trouble in the long run if I go with a mix and match package? Also what is a good price for these? I am seeing some outrageous numbers on "the worlds #1 bidding site" and unfortunately I can't find many locally through Craigslist.

If you can look for a ls6 car intake. These are HP readings off the same motor just swapping intakes. Not that a Small light truck would need more HP than a stock LS1 but hey why not.

LS1 Intake: 464 hp @ 6,200 rpm & 446 ft-lbs 5,100 rpm
LS6 Intake: 470 hp @ 6,400 rpm & 450 ft-lbs at 4,900 rpm
Largest Gains: 14 hp @ 5,800 rpm & 13 ft-lbs 5,800 rpm

Truck looks badass BTW..

Re: You guessed it, 1950 s10 swap.

I got the intake, rails, and injectors all from different sources. Changing from a truck intake to a car intake is basically only for looks. you wont gain anything in fact if you use a LS1 intake you will lose power. LS6 intake is the way to go if you want to change it. I would recommend keeping the truck intake. It will save you a lot of money. I ended up spending an extra 1000 bux easily going to a car intake.

Re: You guessed it, 1950 s10 swap.

That's all great info. Thanks guys!!! I know the truck intake will provide more power but I ended up snagging an ls1 intake, rails and injectors. I'm not overly worried about horsepower and part of the reason I went with an ls is cause I love the look of the ls1 with the rail covers in a truck like this. I have an l98 350 supercharged that I decided not to use in lieu of the ls. I can already see the dollar signs add up but it will be exactly what I wanted. All rambling aside, I wanted to know what you did for your steam lines and did you use the truck throttle body? Now I've gotta keep my eyes out for a 4l60e trans. All of the newer silverados and sierras are stripped to the bones within minutes of hitting the yard and I'm too ignorant to know what other vehicles have the same trans (able to use with no mods). Any thoughts or ideas would be much appreciated!!! Thanks again and this thread is my motivation.

Re: You guessed it, 1950 s10 swap.

I used the truck throttle body. The steam ports i ran a line to the waterpump spacers i used. I tapped the spacer.

The white walls are 2 inches i think

Re: You guessed it, 1950 s10 swap.

Dude I don't know where I would be without your build. So I got the block back together and the ls1 intake in and it's looking like the fuel rail is going to hit the coil pack on the drivers side. Did you run into this?

Truck coil packs and ls1 fuel rails? You will run into that. Just lightly bend the fuel rail nipple up to clear the coil pack. Its a simple fix and commonly done over on ls1tech.com

Re: You guessed it, 1950 s10 swap.

I had to bend the fuel rail up a little. No big deal just dont kink it.

Re: You guessed it, 1950 s10 swap.

Great looking truck! I would change a thing. Just curious if you could give me a lenght of your lower 4-link arms (center of axle tube to center of front mounting bolt. I'm trying to rap-up my suspension work while in the proses of getting the title for my 55 1st ser. I don't want to tear the body off untill I have that title in my hand. Also what backspacing are you running front and rear on your wheels?

The lower link bars are roughly 21.5 inches center hole to center axle. They are adjustable ends tho and can be changed. I also moved my front leaf spring perch back about 5 inches. Not sure on my back spacing 15x7 with s10 back spacing. I have spacers on front and 4x4 rear end.

Thanks for the info! Are you still using the small tank (13.3gal) that came with the s10 or did you move up to the 18gal tanks? Also what setup did you use for the fuel pump?

Re: You guessed it, 1950 s10 swap.

Layedout,
Can I please get some specs on the steering column you used? Brand, length etc.
Your headers look like the same ones I bought, so I figure if your linkage clears, I should copy it. Did you move the steering hole in the firewall from the stock location?

Thanks for any input you can supply.

The steering column is an ebay one. I have no clue on how long it was. I think it was 46"?? Dont quote me tho. I moved the firewall hole down where it was in the floor part more. None of it in the wall portion. Also moved it over about an inch to the driver side to clear the headers better. I had to buy a couple joints and fab the linkage to make a turn around the headers anyway.

Still using the stock s10 tank. The transmission took a dump on me. On the search for a rebuilt 4l60e now....

Re: You guessed it, 1950 s10 swap.

To use a 4l80e i would have to change the harness. Also the yoke is different and i would have to remake the trans crossmember. Then i would have to buy a shifter. Mine wouldnt go over a 4l80
