1bad62pro/street, I wondering if you had to use wood or some other material under the aluminum diamond plate to equal the 3/4" that would normally be the thickness of the bed floor? I really like the look.

I really like the look of the aluminum diamond plate with the polished skid strips. I could do that to mine without that much effort. My bed floor resides under a hard cover and is covered with "stuff" we take everywhere with us, so there isn't much point in making it prettier.

Re: Post your Bed Wood/Metal - Customized/Modified or Stock

Just finished this half floor or "shelf" to house my air tank and controls. A full raised floor in the same style will be built over top at a later date. Wood is white oak cut and notched by me, stained with Minwax provincial, sealed with Australian timber oil. Strips are stainless unpunched that I cut to size and drilled.

I saw you posted somewhere that you did aluminum diamond plate, but said would have rather used steel diamond plate because of needing more weight in the rear. I have steel diamond plate in mine and have been thinking I might rather have aluminum so to shed a little weight. Are you having handling issues with it being too light in the back?

Here's my shoptruck bed, just finished this week.
Walnut budget style.
I used spruce 3/4"x6" burnt the grain, two coats of Nescafé Brasero instant coffee , one coat of walnut stain topped of with three coats of varnish.
I think it turned out great for a budget bed floor.

My 62 C10 has reclaimed rafters from the old Westinghouse in East Pittsburgh that I bought off a salvage guy for $40.

94 year young Harry Hedberg did all the mill work.

Strips are powder coated to match the bumpers. Polished SSTL hardware & Clear varnish.

Valance is due to floor being raised 3" inside the box for drop clearance.
