Re: 1958 LS2 with C4 front and rear

Well I think the rad is in for the last time......it actually has water in it so thats exciting. Engine has oil, tranny has fluid and the ac lines have been crimped and bolted in. The vintage air set up has been for the most part installed give or take a few screws that have to wait until it's charged. Mounted the controls for the ac as well, they were late to show up and that made the install a little bit more difficult. I merged the LS2 ac system with the vintage air system so i guess we will see how that works out

Re: 1958 LS2 with C4 front and rear

I have a question, for using an LS engine or even TBI, what ignition are you using? It is possible when you reprogram the cpu and do away with the VATS that you could use just an old ignition switch from anything?

I will down load some new pictures later today...they don't show how much work has been done....Seriously it's been crazy...Yesturday I had myself plus another guy all day....plus another guy for a couple of hours. We checked alot of the stuff as we wired it with a power probe but as we power up the basics some of it has done so well. I want it all done but I really want to make sure everything is strapped tight wrapped and ready to be driven, I don't want to revisit anything for awhile.

Re: 1958 LS2 with C4 front and rear

Any ignition switch will do the trick. All you need is for a switch to power up the relay for ignition on circuits. And power up the starter relay to turn it over. Really simple. The wire for the coil on the old engine works for the ignition on circuit. Old starter wire goes to the relay on my under hood fuse box where the starter relay is.

Hey thanks for jumping in on the switch.....
This body style was never really my thing....I have always been a dir hard 64-66 truck guy......But since i have started this I really like the way it looks ...I could just sit and look at it sometimes..maybe thats why it's taking so long to put together...

I merged the LS parts into the Vintage air kit which included the need for some Tig work and some fitting rework.

Re: 1958 LS2 with C4 front and rear

Not sure how mch of this process you all want to see.....But here is how it pretty much how the lines were laid out before crimping....I took them to a AC place to be crimped it was fast and was about 50 bucks for all the crimping washers and extra parts...

Re: 1958 LS2 with C4 front and rear

Dash controls installed......

Let me tell you...they sure don't make those cables any longer then they need to be. If they were a inch longer each it would be way easier, you have to have someone hold the controls as the cables are connected or you with scratch off all your dash paint.....or at least tape off around the dash prior to install

Re: 1958 LS2 with C4 front and rear

Well i need to post some new pictures....But i made my first carpet kit.....installed it ( it looks okay ) Installed all my new stereo which worked for aout 2 mins before the amp for the subs gave up the ghost. Brand new amp under warrenty just have to wait for it to be replaced.....But the 2 mins were wicked. Built a set of pods for upfront to mount a 6"& 4" and tweeter with a set of 12" subs for behind the seat. It will be pretty wicked when it's up and running again.

It's a american eagle...I have used lots of them never a problem....it's a bit differnt the way it fits because i sunk it down more and pushed it towards the front more. It's designed to bolt right in..but the LS2 is a bit longer and i needed the extra room
