Re: What did you do to your truck today part III

Installed a Precision windshield gasket, bled the brakes after installing the new dual master cylinder, and... drove it! Good to be back in the saddle again. It's running great.

Re: What did you do to your truck today part III

I know, but I am going to say it any ways, you guys have it easy, finding the repair parts, for your trucks, but us guys who have panels, it is a different story, sure from the back of the front doors, it all looks the same, but from the back of the doors, it is a whole different story, I have looked for repair parts, and it seems like no one makes them, so what is a guy going to do to fix rusted panels, I need a repair panel for the passenger side rear, just above the light housing, to the lower end, and does any one know if a long wheel base side, will work to replace the one above the wheel, if any one knows, please let me know http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/a...817=1465945817

Or in this case an aftermarket side view mirror commonly employed on hot rods, street rods, and all manner of specially constructed vehicles.

Similar to the one pictured here on my 62 where it was formally mounted.

Re: What did you do to your truck today part III

Opened up the transmission to replace filter n gaskets.

Can you see the Robot?

I also replaced the front and rear seals while I was in there, though to the naked, untrained eye, they did look perfectly fine.

Interestingly, the filter clearly was doing its job before.

Happy to have this done too.

Weekend over.

Re: What did you do to your truck today part III

Fixed the steering clearance issues by using a shorter Allen screw no nut like the ones provided by Flaming River. Your supposed to use the short neck rack with Porterbuilt crossmember. The manual, quick ratio rack is long neck. My wheel is 1-1/2 to full turn.

Re: What did you do to your truck today part III

Tire's look great on your truck TJ!

Yesterday Dwayne flared the 1/4" brake tube and got it ready to go, after work I slapped it back on last night. Seems to be dry and holding.

I get side-tracked easily (and I hate brake fluid) so I jumper-ed the headlight switch (1 & 5 / black and white on MY 62) to have continual park lamps with head lamps on.

While in electrical mode, I replaced the P.S. Back-Up Light assembly which was not working properly.

Replaced all 6 exhaust manifold flange nuts with all-metal lock-nuts - and had to replace the P.S. doughnut gasket too. I'm still getting exhaust contact in rear suspension travel, so that will get fixed next week with it going back to Dwayne's for alignment.

This morning, bright and early, after getting it back up on stands (hard with the static drop) me and my sweetheart bled the brakes.

I also set the shift linkage adjustment so the recently repaired back-up lights come on at the right time.

Blew the Gr@nt kit apart to see why I had erratic horn function (that sounds odd).

Step 1 - Shortened the turn signal lever screw, and Step 2 - discovered I had the horn button plate in upside down (metal plate out); to quote the great Fred Sanford, "You big dummy!"

I felt a test drive was in order before going to work. Found a pin-hole leak in the top rad tank so that gets soldered soon too... but we are doing good electrically and overall making significant headway.

Re: What did you do to your truck today part III

Got my CPP 5" lowering springs installed. It's exactly what I wanted, but now I have to get c-notches. *Exhaust is getting fixed soon, too.

Re: What did you do to your truck today part III

AT LAST THE CAB IS HOME !!!!!!!!!!!

Well this afternoon I finished work and headed straight to We weld in New Romney . To. collect my cab the guys down there did a great job and also put in etch primer for me .

They also took me some pictures of the process mounted on the spit

Once blasted they put it primer

All loaded on the trailer ready to head home

So on my journey home I called Rian and my mate Stephen from my bike club to come over with the offer of pizza , it works every time . So with Rian, Stephen and Trevor my neighbour who had arranged getting it blasted at mates rates , as he has the unit next door to We Weld , and another neighbour John from over the road, we lifted onto the chassis .

Just love this picture

So the next update will be showing some of the repairs . It's just finding the time that seems to be the problem at he moment , but more about that later .

Today I installed a new manual fuel pump. Old one's diaphragm was shot. Tomorrow she gets a re-manufactured carb.

Installed a front sway bar from a '78 1 ton using Energy poly bushings and CPP sway bar mounts. Unfortunately I haven't had a chance to drive it, yet. It was time for Big Brother!
