whoa......price on this page says $849
Quote:
Power Steering Rack & Pinion Kit

designed for 1963-87 Chevy Pickups

Complete Kit .......$849.00

click here to order yours today
http://www.nolimitparts.com/

.......yet when you click to purchase you go to this page and its $949?

http://www.nolimitparts.com/prodinfo...ber=3GC-FT-500

Which is it? Heck these days $100 won't buy much but when you put a bunch of them together (as in 8 and a half) it will.

How about a package deal Rob? We buy the R&P kit, Rear shock relo kit, and the Adj. long panhard rod kit so we get the ride benefits of the full No Limit effort.

Is there a code we enter for the 10% or do orders need to be placed over the phone to get the discount?

Re: 63-87 rack and pinion

Just read through the entire thread in one go.. I am inspired, but I live on the other side of the atlantic, would you be able to get me a shipping price for the $849 set to the Netherlands? My 69 C10 is stock with the small adjustment of a complete frontmember swap with a 73 so I could have diskbrakers i.s.o. drums..

Hey Rob, have you had anyone who Z'd the frame on their 70s c10 and had issues setting up the steering? I have one in the shop now that has a 3.5" z'd frame

Re: 63-87 rack and pinion

I think it would be OK. the steering UJ angle would be less, thats good. Maybe rack /tie-rod clearance under the rail, depending on how it was 'Z'd'.

Re: 63-87 rack and pinion

Wondering if I can still run 15" steelie wheels with this setup.? Brother's site says 17" wheels minimum.

How about if I went with the No Limit wide ride.? Could I run my 15's then.?

Is there a manual rack that will work in place of the power unit?

Re: 63-87 rack and pinion

Our WideRide has 12" brakes - So, "most" 15" wheels will fit. We have had a few that we had to grind a little off of the caliper and the weld inside the wheel.

15" wheels should not be a problem with the rack and OE crossmember.

We do not make this for a manual rack.

Re: 63-87 rack and pinion

The racks start out as late model chevy truck (like 2000-2006 1/2 ton 2WD) We cut off the OE passenger side mount, and rotate the passenger side housing 180*. To fit up with the rotated housing, the formed pressure hard lines are custom made to fit. All of the consumable parts, boots, seals.... are from the 2000+chev 1/2T - Now, if it leaking with normal use, we will warranty it N/C. Just call for an RA # and send it in. We'll chevk it out and service it and send it back to you.

The trick would be to keep the relationship (elevation) from the LCA mount to the rack pivot points the same. So, if you set the mount bracket on the crossmember as designed, the geometry should be fine. Now, mounting the bracket may require welding in your case. Also, rack - to - engine clearance may be slim. Did you raise the motor at all?

Re: 63-87 rack and pinion

ok no i have not raised the motor. i am in the build phase of the project so i can raise the the motor still if need be. I'm just hesitant on dropping that kind of scratch and not have it work for my application. i have also heard/read that the rack n pinion would interfere with motor mounts for the genIII motors do you have any knowledge of these rumors?
thx in advance again

Some motor mounts may be in the way depending on motor location and the mounts used. I would guess that a guy who surgically sliced and diced on the OE crossmember could handle an engine mount mod if needed. This is your chance to make the truck better. Move the engine back, and keep it as low as you can (watch the oil pan vs. the scrub line)

Re: 63-87 rack and pinion

I used the No Limit rack with a LM7 (genIII engine) in my son's 82. I built my own engine mounts to set it back and the bottom of the LSA oil pan about 1/4" higher than the bottom of the front crossmember. I did not do a section of the crossmember, but raised it in the frame 1.5". I had to use 3 u-joints in the steering shaft with a support bearing, but it all worked really well.

Re: 63-87 rack and pinion

robnolimit,
I have installed an 84 Chevy cross member in my 46 Chevy short school bus. I narrowed the cross member 5 1/8". To ensure I didn't screw around with the geometry of the suspension the only thing I modified was the cross member. Do you have a rack & mount that will work for the narrower cross member? THANKS
