Re: For Gramps (1970 C20 RestoMod)

So last night I was doing the PS LCA and torquing it down, wrench slipped, finger bangs frame, and now broken pinkie lol.

Hope it heals quickly and nail falls off quick too.

Re: For Gramps (1970 C20 RestoMod)

HUGE UPDATE....kinda haha

Well I now think that I am the only person to have ever shipped their frame and body parts across the Pacific Ocean TWICE!! HAHA.

Due to Covid-19 and Hawaii's tourism industry I have relocated back to Anaheim, CA and brought Gramps' truck with me...in a 40' shipping container...again.

Gramps is now 92 years old and my goal to finish it for us to go on a drive before he passes now has a tighter window; but I am still hopeful I can figure this out and get it done.

I need some help, so please see my next post.

Re: For Gramps (1970 C20 RestoMod)

This build has been riddled with unique situations (moving to/from Hawaii), cost of living in Hawii, etc and if I could take it all back I would have never dove head first into this restomod.

But it is what it is and I currently have a frame, rebuilt 14 bolt, H2 wheels and tires, and original body parts separated (cab, doors off cab, fenders, hood, bed).

I think the only I am going to get this through the finish line is to buy a "good guts" truck (powertrain, brakes, gas lines, etc completed) and do a body swap with Gramps' body parts.

I had always wanted to make his C20 into a 4x4, but know that conversion is insane.

SOOOOOO here's the current plan:

1. Buy a K20 and somehow swap out the bodies

Before anyone says its cheaper to just buy one completed, I totally agree, but my family and I have decided that Gramps' truck at a minimum is the body itself.

So with the plan to buy a K20 and swap Gramps' body onto it.

What are your thoughts?

What should I look for?
