Re: mylow53 build

I used sprayable seam sealer on mine. Its has a heavy texture to prevent from rocks and debris causing "outties".

Looks like line-x on sterioids.

Re: mylow53 build

I would spray the bottom side of your tubs also. Cause ya never know when a stray rock is going to jump up and star your paint, .

Re: mylow53 build

but then again this will be driven hard so i expect some "star" character in the paint.... thanks for the advise i will do the tubs as well... brad wanted the paintable version of the undercoating and i don't know why but thats why i have him doing the paint.

i'm just waiting for the rear bed sill to be painted. i plan on assembling the bed as soon as thats done maybe this week.

i was thinking of buying a buffer/grinder to really pollish the stainless bed strips. any experience with these?

Re: mylow53 build

I have a polisher at my house that will work but I know its expensive. Its like a bend grinder with a cutting polish wheel and a buffing wheel on the other side. Without something like that I dont know if you will get the deep scratches out.

Re: mylow53 build

alright brad gave me all the parts for the bed and i slapped it together. i used about a roll of tape terrified to scratch anything... heres some picts. The real kick come from the chrome strip i created for the back. this is to hide the 2" lift of the bed wood. i still see some hours reshaping the wood since for some reason new the curve of the tubs is not aligned with the wood cut outs..

in other news brad wants me to buy some new running boards since his time to fix my old rusty ones would be more than buying new.. anyone know of any sales out there?

Re: mylow53 build

When you took the bed apart was the rear panel welded to the bed sides?
Is the front of the bed a new piece or the orginal?
I want to replace mine but I do not know the quality of the aftermarket, do they fit right?

Re: mylow53 build

it was welded a percentage of the trucks out there have a welded bed. it's pretty easy with a cut off wheel to remove the weld.... all bed peices are new since the previous owner hauled wood. looks like he thru it in from a distance, and he was a bad shot
