Re: A 15 year old's project. Rusty 62 stepside
the rear cab mounts/cab corner area is going to be the most challenging spot and I'm thinking of getting started on them soon but they are so rusty I don't don't what there supposed to look like. It would be great if someone could get a picture of the rear cab mounts/cab corner. Thanks

the cab supports are $17 each from LMC .
you can go to there online catalog and see a picture of them on there . here are some pictures of the bottom of the cab , on one of the 65 C-10 's that im building now . this is my friend J.B.'s truck cab . it is the better one of the two . |

Tailgate looks good Nik. You're right the only way to learn is to do it yourself. And if it's not right do it again. We have to redo stuff plenty out in the shop.

Re: A 15 year old's project. Rusty 62 stepside
At a minimum, rebuild the carb. It is probably gummed up inside, valves sticking some, and those leakey gaskets..... I am not an expert with them, but those old 1bbl carbs are pretty easy to rebuild. Check around were the throttle rod(?) runs into the caarb and make sure the hole is not to wallowed out as then you may need another carb.

Re: A 15 year old's project. Rusty 62 stepside
Just finished the fan base. Lots of filing and sanding resulted in the the areas replaced with fibreglass looking like they were meant to be. Then threw some paint on. I'll put it all back together tomorrow and put in the new switch.
Oh yeah I also ordered new rear cab supports and they should be here tomorrow or Sunday.

Re: A 15 year old's project. Rusty 62 stepside
That was very common to do in those days. I guess we old folks didn't trust this tubeless thing.
The metal work is looking very good.

Re: A 15 year old's project. Rusty 62 stepside
I started this a month or two ago but never got it done so I finished getting all of the bends out of the front bumper this morning. The bottom was really bad but a torch and hammer with a couple hours of banging had good results.
