Re: Project NiteMare-1970 C10 LWB build
Last update before the box get sprayed. All block sanded inside and out... had to glaze a couple of spots. New paint gun arrives tomorrow, some midnight black paint sitting on the bench ready to go. Looks like most of the bull work done for now.. minor block sanding on the cab and it'll be sprayed as well.

Re: Project NiteMare-1970 C10 LWB build
Quick update... Paint!! New paint gun arrived. Had to spot prime a few spots. Used my old gun for priming... and it blew it out like stucco. Was able to scrub most of it out with a tag rag prior to paint. Turned out good I think. Color sand and polish once cured.

Re: Project NiteMare-1970 C10 LWB build
Thank you.... You can appreciate the hours of block sanding then. Lol. Black shows everything. Only one bug in it so far. He'll get ground out when I color polish.

Re: Project NiteMare-1970 C10 LWB build
Yes black does show everything and im actually using a electric sander to get smooth and to be honest it works great to be honest....but you cant get in some places so i sand blast and wire wheel those then hand sand to get smooth!...Still havent decided on what color i want... it will be a cheap maaco paint job im not going to spend 5-6k on a perfect one!

Re: Project NiteMare-1970 C10 LWB build
Thanks for the compliments guys..... Can't do much for a bit here. Want the paint cured enough to where I know I won't get any permanent finger prints in it re-arranging the shop to prep the cab for paint.

Re: Project NiteMare-1970 C10 LWB build
Can you list all the things you did to prep, sand, prime, and paint because so far i only sanded (still not smooth) but how far do i go down (PO put black spray paint on top of original blue paint) so far ive gotten down to blue is would that be good enough to paint over or should i go to bare medal or what?

Re: Project NiteMare-1970 C10 LWB build
I took the entire truck to bare steel... Inside and out. Be cautious trying to spray over some spray paints. (Lacquer). Could react and leave you with a big mess to deal with.

Re: Project NiteMare-1970 C10 LWB build
They have different products for stripping. 3M abrasive wheels etc. I used 50 grit on my orbital sander.... Locked into grinder mode. Fonts spend much time with it on the bare steel. Once all stripped, do repairs and body work. I spray a drop coat on my filler when sanding it with primer. Spray with a sealer and a hi builds primer. Dust spray a drop coat on. Start block sanding. I start with. 180.. Finish wet sanding with 320. Use glaze for anything u missed. Prime bare spots and spray. Others likely do it different. Works for me.

Re: Project NiteMare-1970 C10 LWB build
Ok thanks...im using an electric orbital sander because we have an old compressor and it wont push pretty much any air tool so i will likely end up buying a new compressor before the trucks done because i would like to paint it myself!

Re: Project NiteMare-1970 C10 LWB build
Paint cured up enough I feel safe workin around it now. Tail, reverse and marker lights in. Harness fabbed up for quick hook up to the frame when I drop it on. Tailgate went on today... and test fired the lights. Clean/rearrange the shop next and then finish off the cab.
