Re: 65 dodge d100 crew cab AKA ''she wants the D''
Thank you!
Well as nice body wise as the truck is, the truck is very hammered, for instance the tailgate, bed floor, can floor are shot do to rust, and the tailgate is almost about ready to fold in half because the outer edges were slammed against the farmer bumper causing them to crack and break and now the tailgate isn't very structurley sound. The passenger fender and I believe passenger door are decent though as well as the frame and suspension, motor and Trans I believe are also shot, so there's still some good stuff left but a lot of it is bad. I can't use most things because 67 had changed in latches and mechanisms compared to 61-66. |

Re: 65 dodge d100 crew cab AKA ''she wants the D''
Finally some progress on the crew cab! Got front door panels, the crazy hard to find DR/PS door mirrors and a 8-3/4 sweptline rear end out of a 68 swepty so it has the simple slide over axle shaft drums. Also got one more driver door glass for my rear driver door and the small rear window glass.

It's great to see you're still working on it. Congrats on the parts find.

Re: 65 dodge d100 crew cab AKA ''she wants the D''
Today I managed to swap the 1/2 ton axle under it and as I'm typing this I'm waiting at the tire shop to have the tires mounted on matching steel rims to the front, when I get home I'll put them on and it will finally be on matching wheels/bolt pattern

You were lucky to find the passenger side door mirror. When I had my Dodge I couldn't find one so I got a drivers side and reversed it. Glad to see you making some progress with it.

What 1/2 ton rear end did you choose that's 5 on 4.5"?, I am doing a similar build, used the CV front and rear axles, all four disk brakes and the Watts link rear 6 point connections. But really WIDE, rear is 69" WMS to WMS. Also, do you have finished picks of the front end installation? I had to cut the frame in 6 places and bring it in to be narrower than the CV front aluminum cradle, and more parallel. How did you get it between the frame and bolt it in? |

Re: 65 dodge d100 crew cab AKA ''she wants the D''
Sorry for the delay in response.. I don't get on as much as I used too. The rear end I got is stock from a 68 d100 so it has the factory small mopar:ford bolt pattern like the CV uses. Also the rear for now still has the factory drums on it, I have yet to get into buying all the aftermarket parts for my build like the rear disc kit. And as for the from suspension, it's been awhile since I've messed with it since my welder gave up on me, so I'm not sure of the precise measurements I used but I know for sure I took a pie cut out of the top and lower horizontal sides of the C channel frame and sliced down the side of the frame and removed the factory motor mounts that are divided in and I then pinched in the side of the frame to close the pie cut gap, then I closed the open portion of the frame rail. I still have yet to box the frame in, I had some pics of the work only old phone but the battery blew up and destroyed it so I lost quite a bit of notes and pictures from the build of this truck. I'm not sure when I'll be able to go back to where I have the truck right now, but I'll take some pics and post them when I can.

Re: 65 dodge d100 crew cab AKA ''she wants the D''
Been awhile since I’ve been on here, went on here to get some shots of the crew cab when I first got it.. and realized I could actually update the thread.. last year I rented a shop so I could actually have room to work on all my junk. And I brought the crew cab to the shop last summer and bought a welder. And then I pretty much went to town on the truck, fixed up the 440 I got for it, finished welding the frame and fabrication for the crown Vic swap, and then I went and cleaned up all the front end parts with CLR and painted what needed to be nice black and reassembled it with nice hardware, and then I sanded down the interior and repainted it 1965 c10 fawn interior color lol I got everything all back together and wired up a temporary engine run harness so I can fire the truck up and move it around, and as of last week I’ve officially got the truck driveable!
