Thanks man. It's back to coming along nicely again. Tonight I got the driveline in, E brake hooked up, power steering bled, battery tray and battery in and the shift lever and boot back on.

Tomorrow I will tackle the wire harness to the alternator sorted out and the tranny filled again. I feel way too excited to drag it to the exhaust shop on saturday!

Last night I made a little bracket for the choke cable and the throttle return spring. I'm not super excited about how it came out but it hides under the air cleaner so it's ok . I also wired the 3 wire alternator, super easy, and had to test my work by firing it up. Started up pretty easy for sitting for a couple months, can't wait to take it to get exhaust on Saturday!

It's always nice when you getting close. Small things don't seem so big anymore. What was you reason for using the inline 6 vs a small v8 ? It will be ashame to make those nice shinney fenders look old .

It was originally an inline 6 truck so that's the main reason why I stayed with it. A small block didn't sound like that great of an option at the time since it will ultimately end up with a 4.8 or 5.3. Knowing what I know now, I would've spent close to the same on an LS that I have on this 6. I try not to think about that though

The truck is pretty rough paint-wise and putting shiny fenders on really made them stand out. They aren't perfect but neither is the rest of the truck so they are perfect for the truck

It's been a full day of buffing, painting, bolting and replacing! The passenger side of the bed is all buffed and installed, the grille and headlight bezels are painted white, the taillights are installed, I removed a bunch of black paint on the drivers rear fender and buffed it and dad swapped the headlight switch out for the new one. I also took dad on a ride through the neighborhood! I think I have a syncro going out in the tranny, it won't downshift from 3rd to 2nd without going through 1st, but all in all I'm very happy with the weekend progress!

More progress last night! A buddy came over and acted as helper/comedian/BS expert last night. I knocked out a bunch of things including tightening and aligning the fenders, adding the hood latch and filler pieces, installing the grille, getting the headlights to work and getting the brake lights to work. It's one step closer to assaulting the streets!

I had to make a little riser/filler piece for the radiator clamp to hold correctly. It finished off the top of the radiator and works to hold the radiator nice and secure.


After a trip to the auto parts store for more panel shims, we bolted the grille on. I'm so ecstatic on how this thing is coming together! I have a letter kit for the grille but I don't trust myself enough to put them in proper so I'll probably have another friend help me there.




Getting the headlights to work was easy, I just needed a new dimmer switch. Also, getting the brake lights to work was easy too, the brake light switch needed to be replaced. I love the blue dot lights!


As you can tell, I still have some work to do on the bed and the hood but I'll be taking Friday off work so I can button up what I don't get done tomorrow night. Hoping to have it together early enough to cruise around town a little bit and hit up a weekly cruise in

A little update. I've logged well over 100 miles on it since Friday and I gotta say that I am extremely pleased with the truck! The T5 is awesome, steering is amazing, brakes are phenomenal and the suspension exceeded my expectations! I did run out of gas this morning, I don't have a speedo or gas gauge so I gotta get one of those working but other than that it's had no problems! The rescue truck is my dad's 69 K20. He bought it a few months ago, I may be to blame , and it was a local airport crew truck. I think he's at 36,000 miles on it now. It's all original and an awesome pickup!



I've been having so much fun driving this old pickup! I really need to figure out the gas gauge but for now I'll just make a note to fill it up

Thanks! I'm sure I'll have it around Sherwood at some point. I really wanted to make Cruisin Sherwood this year but that didn't happen.

Time for a little backwards travel through time to Friday. I started off at 8:30 with this list of things to get done throughout the day so I could make a cruise in that evening.


Things were getting crossed off one by one until I needed my buddy's help to get the hood on. He showed up a little after 11 and we knocked the hood out pretty quickly. I drilled through the hinges and hood so aligning them was super easy. It was so awesome seeing the hood on it finally




Next up were the bumpers. I got a little confused on the rear brackets but got them figured out. I also buffed each bumper before putting them on. They really turned out nice!




A little after 3:30 and I had the list all done! I was hoping to get done a little earlier but hey, I got it done and made it to the cruise in!


Mine and dad's trucks, they got quite a bit of attention!




I still have some things to get done, mount the steps, finish the tailgate and then tie up a few loose ends but I'm super excited to put some miles on it!

Thanks man! I'm super proud of the whole truck. I love driving it and seeing the smiles on other drivers when they see it. Too much fun!

Last night I had my first issue with it, I flipped the belt for the power steering pump. I know that the pulley isn't lined up perfect so I'm going to see how I can fix that without pulling the pulley farther off the shaft. I'm also going to see if I can get a shorter belt that will allow me to get some better tension on it. I'm pretty sure it came off when I opened it up to see what kind of speeds I could hit. Not triple digits but not too far off either. It won't go on a road course with the 6 but it was fun stretching its legs a bit

Just put a few bucks of gas in it every time you drive it Scott, then once in a while it will be full... I did that with my old Chevy when the gas gauge did not work!
