Yep! I'm following yours too! Sadly the 60 swap won't start for a good couple months as I am remodeling my kitchen starting right after Christmas... Yippie!

Re: 1977 Silverado Crew Cab.
Well then! Mine will be starting not in the far distant future I just have a lot going on right now with a couple of fbody's. I want to have the front end stripped from the 4x4 before the end of the year and the 350 tbi in the 88 needs a head gasket. Still trying to decide where I plan to get my 4x4 swap parts from.

Re: 1977 Silverado Crew Cab.
Wheels look good! You going to run those with the 4x4 conversion with some taller tires? Those wheels are only 6.5 inches wide, but woul be perfect for some 9.00x16's.

Re: 1977 Silverado Crew Cab.
If things work out the way I think they will, I'll be ordering up the Fitech fuel injection next week. Seems like a pretty good setup!
http://fitechefi.com/default.asp.pg-GoEFI4 Also, just as an FYI, I have started a little (very little) side business and have started working on a website. If you want to check it out and tell me what you think that would be cool! It's at, http://gisiautoandfab.com/

I am also interested in seeing how the FITECH system works for you. It was tempting me pretty bad earlier in the spring when Summit had it on sale.

Re: 1977 Silverado Crew Cab.
So that whole fitech idea didnt work out... Cause i got ANOTHER truck! Saw a deal on craigslist i just couldnt pass up. Picked this truck up for $1000! Previous owner says the truck wont run. Says he pulled the engine out of a running and driving truck, put it in this one, and now it wont run. Says it back fires out the carb. Shouldnt be a big fix. I'll get back to the injection when funds recoup a little!

Re: 1977 Silverado Crew Cab.
If the number one plug wire is the front passenger side in your picture then the firing order is screwed up.
18436572 clockwise around from number 1. Or number 1 is not set right on TDC. My be 180 out. All easy fixes. |

Re: 1977 Silverado Crew Cab.
Great find! I've always liked one ton dually regular cabs. Time to update the signature and start a build thread. Glad I'm not the only one with that problem...

Re: 1977 Silverado Crew Cab.
Looking at the plug wire pic definitely makes it look messed up. Ad soon as I can I'll check it out. I had to stash it at my parents property until I'm done with the renovations on my house...

Re: 1977 Silverado Crew Cab.
I enlarged the picture as much as I could and it looks like just a couple wires on the cap look questionable.
Usually backfiring through the carb is crossed wires, 180 out, or too much advance. Good luck, nice looking truck, great tower for sure. I'm guessing a Turbo 400 and a 205 Tcase. |

Re: 1977 Silverado Crew Cab.
Wow great score! Anything like that in this part of the world would be rusted out and used up. I'll be looking forward to the build on this one. +1 on the suggestions about backfiring through the carb.

Re: 1977 Silverado Crew Cab.
Great score on that truck. Simple fix on the backfiring issue. Put on a new vinyl seat cover, grill and bumper, and a bit of cleaning/detailing and you got a nice truck!

Re: 1977 Silverado Crew Cab.
Thanks guys! It will be a couple weeks yet before I can get to it to see about getting it running but I really don't think it will be a big deal. It sounds fine when it's turning over so I don't think it jumped time or anything. I think just the distributor is not in right and or the firing order is messed up. We'll see.

Re: 1977 Silverado Crew Cab.
Oh and it's a th400 203 combo. So less than ideal but I'll take it. The 203 has a part time kit in it.
