Well, first and foremost, congratulations on the marriage!


Now, on the truck front; would you care to share some details on that dash? What did you find was the best method of stripping the old padding off? Rip/tear and sand?

That look is exactly what I was thinking for my dash since my dash pad is... bad... to say the least.

I am not sure there is a good method...I detailed it back in the thread starting with post #43...It was and pain and tedious.
Basically, I went crazy with a putty knife.......FOR HOURS!!!
I can't remember the exact number but there are over 70 of those stamped holes in the dash (I am guessing for weight reduction) that are very sharp and left me with several finger slices...
The black mesh is gutter guard that I picked up at Menards and JB Weld'd to the bottom...cheap and doesn't look too awful...
The wood accent is actually 100yr old barn wood that I planed down and trimmed up to fit the existing trim holes...

I know that Gregski stripped his down in his Restoring Rusty thread and I believed he was phosphoric acid, but I can't remember exactly...

Thanks! I wound up peeling it all by hand, then using flat head screw drivers on the stubborn stuff, then sandpaper to get the remainder off. It took probably 2 hours or so to get it to paintable condition.Sprayed with flat black rust converter... I haven't done the gutter guard yet, but also agree on the sharp edges! Looks way better than what was there before.

Send the progressive link back an order the throttle arm extension. That's what you actually need. I tried the progressive link an didn't like it. I have since found out you need to do more tuning to the system for it rather than just checking the box an telling it what % the rear opens. Mine didn't open the rear until 52% throttle which was way to late imo, it needs to be more like 22-25%. Hope your results are better with it but I think you'd be happier with the arm extension.

If you are dead set on keeping the progressive link I can help you get the tune set up for it after you install it.

Right on, man! I am not dead set on anything and I appreciate the advice...I'll order the extension and give it a go...I've heard others complain about getting the % right and that it can be a pain...

The problem lies in some other tables that need to corrected with the laptop software for the progressive linkage. Its not a big deal but that's why it isn't "officially" supported by holley.

An the guys saying it will help on mileage are full of it. The engine needs a certain amount of fuel to run. It can come from all 4 injectors or 2 but it's still going to use the same amount of fuel.

I went an took Holleys efi classes (through level 2) in August so if you get stuck on anything just shoot me a PM. If you haven't found it already I recommend saving this manual.

If you do Facebook avoid the sniper groups. Its full of people who can't/won't read the manuals an want to argue about why you have to do certain things the way it says. I won't get off on that rant though lol.

Redneck tip of the day...lost center caps? Steal the caps off your neighbors fence, wire wheel them, wrap the base in electrical tape and slam them in the hole! Better than spending $50 per on new ones... .

In the "you get what you pay for but sometimes cheap works" category...we have this radiator...
Fitment was perfect and install was pretty simple...had to fab up some top brackets out of a piece of metal door trim (yes...that bracket is SEMA quality, I know), but it settled in place nicely...
I knew sumptin would go wrong with this piece and it showed itself when the trans cooler outlet threads stripped out immediately...no biggy...picked up a junkyard external and all is right in the world...
Next issue was getting this baby to burp...she didn't want to...took a while and she made sure to spew multiplemany times...
Really, this unit works pretty well (he said unit) for what it is...in normal, stupid traffic during hot days, it keeps the motor about 185 degrees...if I am running the A/C (don't judge), it hovers around 205 but I gotta keep an eye on it in heavy traffic...
All in all, I cain't complain...$255 for a radiator/fan combo...I'd by that for a dollar...

Seats installed and some "paint" clean up with boiled linseed and mineral spirits...

Gonna lower the rear some more and go with a posi rear end...I'll detail the work...

Whamo, happy new year! I haven't seen any updates and I wanted to check in. How's the truck, how's the wife, how's the life? Looks like you made short work of getting those seats in. They look nice, how do you like them? That last picture of the truck looks like it's sitting just right.
