Re: Long Project: Orange Julius

Got bored the other day and decided to draw up some ideas for door panels. I think Im pretty decided on the bottom right design. I tried to use some of the lines of the truck in the design. Anyone guess what they are???

The panel will run from the top of the OEM panel all the way to the floor. The insert in the middle will be a "double stitched diamond" pattern to match the insert in the seat. Down at the bottom left of the panel will be speakers and then covered with an acoustic fabric so the sound wont be affected. I cant decide what I want to do with the spot below the line on the bottom. Then the rest of the panel will be a high quality vinyl or leather(just depends on what I chose when that day comes)

Just to the right of the right of the panel is a cutaway or profile shot of it. You can kinda see I incorporated an armrest/door pull just right below the insert. Then some brushed aluminum hardware to finish it off

Well welcome and thank you! I would surely hope that you would chose orange for your color with a name like you made. LOL I will make sure to keep an eye out for your truck as it progresses. Do you have any ideas of what kind of orange you want?

I created the name with the intentions of painting the truck the factory color orange that had the white in the middle with the body trim that I believe was wood grain. My dad had one back in the day and I always thought that was the coolest looking factory paint job on a truck. My thoughts were to kinda restore the outside with the factory look but put custom interior in it. But after seeing all the different options I'm not sure exactly what I want to do yet. I am really thinking about the air bag suspension like you have on yours that looks like the way to go. I will start a build thread when I get started on it for sure. I just hope it turns out half as good as yours did

Re: Long Project: Orange Julius

Just read the whole thread. Great job on the truck! Love the color too.

You asked about what to do to the grill for a little more pop, and I always liked a little black outside of the headlight bezels.

Happy b-day too!

Haha, yea... I never thought I would splurge for it but I guess things change! Plus I had 2 good excuses. One being a birthday gift to myself, and two I needed something pretty to mount my new(to me) LS/T56 combo onto.

you know, I was just thinking that too! I can spray them with some Plasti-Dip and if I change my mind, just peel it off.

The rears are going to stay pretty much the same... I dont really want to cut the bed, but one day if I decide to do something a little custom, I might tweak around with raising the floor

Re: Long Project: Orange Julius

So a little change came my way as how Im gonna do some things with the truck. Instead of running a T56 behind the LQ4, Im have decided to go with a 4L60E. It will be alot cheaper and quicker to get done since I dont have to install another pedal, clutch slave cyl, and figure out where the shifter is going to go.

I also ran across this company in an issue of HotRod Magazine...
http://visualimpactperformancesystems.com/index.html

They make a very simple, clean, and somewhat more affordable(still overpriced in my eyes) serpentine setup. Plus it comes with all the accessories I needed anyways.

Whatcha think?

If they are the same price I would go with the March setup. Looks nicer to me.
