Re: What did you do to your truck today!

Finished grinding smooth all the welds on my exhaust and then laid down my first coat of por-20 silver exhaust paint. Has to dry for 24hrs before second coat can go on.

Re: What did you do to your truck today!

Got after it pretty good this weekend.Friday I put in the battery tray I bought from the board to replace what was left of my old one.

Then, this morning, I went inside the cab, and laid on my head and surgically repaired shoulder for an hour and a half changing out the damn stoplight switch. My hands just couldn't get up there to loosen the top nut to drop it out. Turns out my trucks PO had crossthreaded it.

After about an hour of messing with it, I grabbed a pair of dikes and proceeded to cut at the old plastic until I could pull the bottom nut off. Once it was off I pushed the stump up through the hole and out.

In the end I won. My brake lights now only come on if you're actually pushing on the pedal ().

To treat myself after all that hard work, I took the 2 minutes to install the new park light lenses in the grill.

Re: What did you do to your truck today!

Replaced the turn signal due to adding a tilt steering column. Signals work, horn works, making progress slowly.

Re: What did you do to your truck today!

Dismounted all the tires from the 70 and put them on my 83 (and vice-versa). Then I cleaned and rearranged the shop so I could fit & sorta work on both trucks. It's still crowded when the 83 is in there, but at least I can open both doors on the 83 and walk around the truck to do stuff.

No problem......It's a 68 w/ a 327. I'm only just getting started with the install, but so far things are going together quite well. I did have to enlarge the mounting holes on the top bracket for the condenser. You can sort of see that in the pics.
This is their latest offering for our trucks which is servo controlled. Will be interested to see how it works.

Re: What did you do to your truck today!

Well I Finely Broke down and had to Sale my Truck.
LOL Yeah right to that. I have to much invested into this one to sale lol. any how I did good yesturday Finely Sold the Donor I got the Bed and Frame and some other parts off of. and the good news is I fixed it back up decent enough to sale for just around the same price I purchased it for and saved a donor instead of trashing it. so I think I gained in this project just under 3k so now the good thing will be that money will go directly into this project to get it on the road this summer i hope..yay I am stoked!

Re: What did you do to your truck today!

Nothing on mine, but spent the day installing a stereo in a friend's 64 C10. Dash was already cut, but had to make speaker boxes for under the seat and in front of the B&M shifter.

Got done just in time to go to work.

Re: What did you do to your truck today!

replaced diverter box in air con/heat system and cleaned all other duct work. my "S" duct is damaged so I gotta order another. I adjusted all the cables to ensure full movement and eyeballed every aspect of the system. I rubbed some "bay rum oil" from Plum Island Soap Company in the duct work to condition it and give it a little odor. :}

added a chrome water pump from Jegs and had the lower bolt hole of my a/c bracket welded back together. U never know what u r gonna find when u start digging in these old rods.

I added a spring to my passenger side kick panel door vent that will close the door when I switch back to the "outside" air mode. took me forever to figure out how to get that damn door to close on it own.

gave the carpet a hair cut where the mats have opened some of the loops.

Washed and detailed the engine and suspension. Washed the body also.

Installed 2 new parking lamp assemblies in the front bumper.

changed the oil and filter.

busy boy!!!

Re: What did you do to your truck today!

Took her for a 30 minute cruise this morning. Found I have a short in the turn signal switch causing some brake light issues.

Picked up new turn signal switch after another 30 minute cruise this evening. Filled my Camaro tank all the way up for the first time. Fills great no issues and the gas gauge reads pretty darn close to perfect. The kids at the gas station loved the truck and couldn't help but smile as I rolled in blaring Sublime's- Love is What I got.

You'll love they way that York works. Too bad they are so ugly, at least mines bends in with the other uglyness under the hood.

Installed a new 100 amp alternator, new center console and gear shift. Going to wash her up tomorrow and get her ready for her trip to Texas.
