Mini starter for inline 6

my 69 Chevy is running a 4.1 L inline 6 with a 350 turbo. i want to run one of those mini starters, as many people are, but ive only seen them for 350 engines.

Will a 5.7 L corvette starter work with my truck?

Is your six block drilled for the diagonal bolts? My 250 six was drilled for both in line and diagonal starters. I always thought that the starters were the same for six and small block, and that what matters is the flywheel/flex plate diameter. the inline bolt starters fit the 153 tooth flywheels, and the diagonal bolt starters fit the 168 tooth flywheels. But that is just what I thought. May someone else will confirm it for you.

What size flywheel do you have? If you have 153 tooth wheel, get a starter for a 3.0 mercruiser. The 181 cubic inch Merc is the Old Chevy II 153 ci motor bored and stroked. The Chevy II is 2/3 of a 230/250 six if you weren't familiar with them.

I used a 3.0 gear reduction starter on the 153 ci Postal Jeep motor (used by Kaiser Willys 68-70 in the short nose postal in front of a Powerglide!) I'm R&Ring for a jeep project.

I'm curious why you would want to spend the money on one, since the 6 cylinder starter stays plenty cool. The only reason I bought one for my truck was because the big one was getting baked by the exhaust heat.

A few people have mentioned putting it on their trucks. my starter is fine just wondering for future improvements.

I run a high torque mini starter on my 292. Somehow my block was drilled so I can bolt it straight up like a small block. I had never seen an inline set up like that but it worked out well for me.

I click the starter for merely a split second and it fires right up so there is almost no stress on it.
