Frame mount hitch
I purchased a Drawtite hitch 41504, a class 3 hitch with max rating of 1000 lb / 10,000 lb gross weight. Bought at Amazon for $120.
Happy to report install was easy and I was able to keep the spare tire. I bolted the side pieces to the cross piece of the hitch and then raised it into place after dropping the spare tire. I used C clamps to hold in place while I marked the holes. Drilled 6 1/2" holes stepping up from 1/8" to 1/4" then 1/2". (Hint: Use new or sharpened drill bits) Bolted into place and raised tire into place. I was not able to secure the tire with the cross piece as the bar was hitting the side plate of the hitch on the passenger side. I placed 2 short pieces of 2x6 on top of the tire to take up the gap between the top of the tire and the 2 bars the top of the tire pushes against and was able to secure the tire.

Re: Frame mount hitch
Glad to see that it fits with the step bumper. How far back does the receiver tube stick out, any, a lot?
Too bad it doesn't tuck up closer though. For $120, I could live with it (or modify). Thank you for the info!

Re: Frame mount hitch
Looks great Terry. Would you mind posting a picture from the lower side view so I can see where the end of the hitch resides?

Re: Frame mount hitch
Here you go. As you can see from the underside of the bumper, the drop hitch was welded well. It took a cutting torch and bit of work to remove it. I haven't bothered to clean it up. Let me know if this is what you need.

Re: Frame mount hitch
Nice, Would that work the same for a '68 LB C20?

Re: Frame mount hitch
I would think so. Can't image they changed the frame much if at all.

Re: Frame mount hitch
Thanks for the info. My "Buddy" was going to charge $300.00 for the same part #. I ordered it through Amazon.

Re: Frame mount hitch
I installed mine yesterday. Fairly straight forward installation and fits nice.
