On HEI for 350

DOes anyone know where the #1 is and which way the firing order rotates on the distributor?

Rotates clockwise. I know there is a "factory" position for #1 but I don't remember what it is. I usually stab the dizzy and find tdc on #1 and start wherever the rotor is pointing.

I usually put it next to the where the wiring goes into the cap (to the right of the square part of the cap). But anywhere the rotor points at top dead center is #1!!!! I usually pull the #1 plug and rotate the motor untill the compression blows the finger out (the timing mark will line up with the tab as well) then put the rotor pointing at the #1 plug and set the wires accordingly (clockwise) set the dist housing with enough room to advance and retard the timing without hitting anything as well!!
