That box and matching trailer looks great!!

Overall this truck was what I was looking for as a strong foundation with the initial investment of $2700.00. It has taken work on minor things but that's what I enjoy about it...it's old enough even I can work on it!

Plan to continue to maintain it as a "keeper" with occasional "upgrades" knowing what a new one would cost. I figure I have a long way to go before I even make it half the value of a new one!

And a pic from a couple of months ago in a "working mode"...

As the budget allows I'll just keep "updating" as I have, and like we all tend to do, but it will always be a 'working' truck...at least that's what I tell the wife. Yet no law saying it can't look as good as it runs.

Re: What did you pay for your dually ?

Wow some good deals on duallys on here. I traded a blown 468ci chevy motor (small weiand 177 blower) and an old set of 17" torqe thrust wheels with used tires for mine, but it was in very good condition for the age it was, new motor with only 5000 miles new rear end, new clutch, brakes front suspension ect. you get the picture. Here are some shots the day I drove it home.

My $3250 '88 R30 that I may or may not have paid too much for.

Fired right up this morning after sitting out in the snow and cold for several days. TBi may not really be all that for performance but it's nice in cold weather.

You have the exact same wheels as mine, I think that's the first set I've seen other than mine so far.

Re: What did you pay for your dually ?

I probably paid too much too, but didn't pay a lot, so I'm cool with it. I paid enough to buy it and that's all that matters I guess! I mean after looking at rust bucket '64 - '65 Suburbans in the $4,500 - $10k range for six months, $3,500 for a running, driving truck with no rust and new wheels and tires seemed just about free!

And every day when I look at my truck, it still makes me smile a big wide smile, so I can't complain!

Check out the California craigslists. Lots of decent trucks that are going for bargain pricing because they either won't pass smog or the CA reg is way past due and it's too expensive to register them compared to what the truck is worth. Seems like taking one out of state (assuming the laws in WA are reasonable on brinigng trucks in) might be a good deal.

Re: What did you pay for your dually ?

I thought this to be an original '75 C-30 and I paid $1000. Since I bought it and have had a chance to really look it over good it appears at one time it was built from different year trucks. The cab is a '75, but the doors are '77 or newer and so is the bed. It has a '73 350 backed with a NP-435. The rockers and cab corners were replaced when it was built it appears. The only major rust is in the floor and front cab supports.

I bought this one to fix up and use around the farm since the '67 we built turned out too nice to take out into the fields.

Re: What did you pay for your dually ?

Picked mine up for $1500, dropped it and drove it for a few years. Could've got a much nicer one for a little more money, but I was young and dumb.

Lost the trans a while back, so I decided to blow it down to the nuts and bolts and swap in a TBI 454.
