Heater Core 2000 1/2 ton. *isntalled*

I'm looking into replacing the heater core for a friend. The fitting broke off in the engine compartment.

I've done a heater core in a mid 90's bronco, and it was extremly easy, only the glove box needed to come out.

Basically I'm concerned about 2 things.
How much, if any of the dash needs to come apart, or off (never done that)

And how those the fittings work on that heater core. They looked weird.

I had one of the fittings break off on my 2000 Sierra. Also 1/2 ton. The fittings are replaceable. They snap on. Should be able to get them at any auto parts store. Getting the rest of the old fitting off was a pita tho.

If they are replacable, and snap on, how to they snap off (remove).

This could be alot easier than expected.

Take a hacksaw blade & carefully make two cuts long ways 180degrees apart on the plastic fitting. when you get the fitting off just slip the heater hose on the heater core & clamp it, No need to buy the plastic fitting.

Sounds doable... BUT, basically its like this. I live ina 40x60' metal building. Its mainly a shop, with a small living area that I stay in. It sounds weird, but its bad ass.

Anyways, people often think I'm a mechanic shop, and ask if I can handle small jobs (my place is in a industrial area). He just has the heater hoses looped, so I'm sure he will be thankful for a working heater. I'd like to keep it professional, but I guess thats how they've been down for years...

The hack saw idea isnt bad. I'll probably work on it tomorrow.
