Starting to disassemble the interior of my CST
I think it is time to start working on cleaning up and renewing the interior of my 68 CST as it will be in my future for many years

Re: Starting to disassemble the interior of my CST
Welcome Aboard! Your truck looks to be nice and solid and unmolested. Good score! I like the original lettering. Can we see more?
On another note did you mean to post it here in the lonely Suburban section? If not then ask one of our wonderful, dedicated moderators to move it to the truck section.

Re: Starting to disassemble the interior of my CST
Nice truck. What’s the plan for the interior? Close to factory replacements? Don’t throw anything out, that’s all usable.

Plans for the whole truck is a refresh not a restore or change. Interior needs some broken stuff replaced and new carpet and seat cover for buckets

Re: Starting to disassemble the interior of my CST
so far all is going very well with the cab and interior project, I did find 2 spots of rust i will need to fix.
1. where the vent panel meets the floor on Passenger side. 2. A spot on the Passenger rocker Panel outside

Re: Starting to disassemble the interior of my CST
There are times when you just want to stop or at least slow any rust that is forming and save the task of panel replacement for another time. A good rust converter will do wonders at halting damage that can wait. While you have things apart, be sure to clear out all the weap holes in the doors and body panels. Also. The cowl vents that run down to kick panels fill with leaves and rodent stuff. They can get into the fan housing as well. Get all that cleared. It will keep things dryer. I used a smaller tube connected to a shop vac to get into tight spots. It was amazing how much was hidden in places I did know were there.

Re: Starting to disassemble the interior of my CST
well the interior clean up has Creeped to under the hood also, I guess this is very common and happens to the best of us. I will have all of my interior stuff here in the next 2 weeks and can put it back together, I am starting to assemble under the hood the coming week.

Scope creep. You'll end up with a paint boot of some sort in no time. You're doing good!

Re: Starting to disassemble the interior of my CST
Nice lookin truck
While you have your interior out, if you want your seatbelts cleaned/freshened up, I can do them. I have a link on my signature for the belts I restore. Although I mostly do the Squarebodies, I have done quite a few of the 67-72 belts also. The 2point belts on both the 67-72 and 73-75 are my favorites.

Re: Starting to disassemble the interior of my CST
My project is going fairly well. I found three spots of rust and as of today’s date all the rust has been repaired and repainted.
I have ordered a complete stock interior to replace all of the worn out and broken parts and I’ll be starting to install that soon. I also removed the phone numbers and the lettering and the signs from the bed and the tailgate and polished out all the factory paint
