Shifter linkage help
Okay guys a little background. I bought my 71 chevy with a 83 police intercepter 350 and centerdump manifolds with a turbo 350. I recently switched to headers that a buddy had laying around brand new but im not sure of the brand. My problem is my shifter linkage hits the middle of my collector tube and im not sure how to fix it. Help would be greaty appreciated. Thanks Brandon

any pics how much clearance are we talking I've seen them dinged with a hammer before to clear stuff, not attractive or the best fix by far but it works and its cheap.

Were they for your model truck? I have used a set off of a 69 camaro and they fit up just about like you described. I wound up using a lokar cable but their direct rod should work too.

No pics right now but they hit smack dab in the middle of the collector. I can get it into nutral but thats as far as i can go. Do you guys have a part number and price?

The only reason I can think of going with the cable is if revving/towing will cause the drivetrain to flex enough to change gears for you.

well i dont think ill be flexing the truck to much with reving im not going to be over 350 hp or anything so i think the rod should work for me. Thanks alot guys this really helps. Can i get a pick of anyones set up?

Okay guys i solved my linkage problem and i gotta take some pics to show you how but it only cost me about $3 total
 and thats just for the can of black spray paint to stop it from rusting. I modified the lower bracket that comesoff of the side of the transmission where the linkage rod connects to.
