Cheap Rear Disc Conversion '73

I really want to convert my rear drums to discs and thought about pulling a newer model Chevy rear axle with disc brakes already set up. Any body know if this will work, and if so what to get it from?

Not sure. I am new at restoration and don't really know a whole lot. How would I be able to tell?

Awesome! Thanks for giving me a great starting place! I have looked for hours trying to find someone just selling the mounting plates by themselves, with no luck. Thanks again.

Re: Cheap Rear Disc Conversion '73

I am not 100% sure on the specifics, but maybe even check out the rear ends from a 94-96 Impala SS. They will have the rear disc setup, and be 5x5 bolt pattern.

Maybe someone else has already looked into this and has more info.

I believe the Cadillac Sevilles form 76-80 will work also. They have rear disc with 5 on 5 bolt pattern.

The nice thing about the Caddy setup is that you retain the e-brake with the disc calipers.

I got my disc brake brackets for my Dana 70HD from www.diy4x.com. Not sure if he has half ton brackets or not, but it might be worth checking out.
