Radiator help / Fan shroud

Somebody must have run into this issue. I have a new radiator CU369.
My truck is a 69 3/4 ton with a 396. I have the big block correct fan shroud. Radiator seems 1" too high because shroud will not reach upper and lower mounting points. I even took the rubber pads out and still too high. The top brackets seem to be at a touch of an upward angle indicating an issue. The radiator is the same size as the one I took out but there was not a shroud when I bought the truck. So if i attach the shroud to the upper brackets, it sits too high and cant get lower screws in. Also fan blades rubs bottom of shroud. Somebody else has to have run into this before.
Big block guys here is the question if you're truck has a shroud.....

1. What is the height of your radiator?

2. What is the diameter of your fan blade?

3. Any Pictures??

Really appreciate any input

Re: Radiator help / Fan shroud

My son does not have the big block truck anymore but it used clips on the bottom instead of the screws. The clips have a little more leeway.

Is the fan centered when the shroud is attached at the top?

Jim

I have the clips as well but if you attach it to the top than the shroud just misses the bottom to short clips wont reach. No Fan seems too low. But that still would not solve the shroud from attaching at top and bottom.

Re: Radiator help / Fan shroud

I have the same problem with the 454 in my '67. The enginve sets down about an inch too low keeping the shroud from being centered with the fan.

I have a piece of metal angle that I am going to lay down the back of the radiator and mount to the radiator hold-downs. Then I can mount the shroud where it needs to be on the piece of angle. I think the angle is right at 30 inches long, the top part that will go over the to radiator hold-downs is about 6" and the part that will go down the back of the radiator is about 4 inches. The angle is about 1/8 inch thick.

Hope this helps.

Re: Radiator help / Fan shroud

Have the same problem with my small block 350. I have broke both tabs on my radiator shroud and I had to put extensions on.

Re: Radiator help / Fan shroud

Good idea shyguy, I've got to come up with something also. Still doesn't answer the question as to what is the cause of this problem. When I got my truck the top two mounting tabs were broken off the shroud and it had a new radiator so I don't know what it looked like originally. Now when I am putting it all back together the top mounts are angled up to the rear so doesn't seem right.
